Unless you really need those extra cores, you would be better off with the ryzen 3900x that you can find for $390 in store at microcenter right now (check the latest deal) , and use that extra $300 to buy a better graphic card (especially if you're into gaming)

The 3900x just got reduced by $100 off MSRP too.
But for those with a couple 2080 ti already, the cpu is what I got left to splurge on.
I have a i-7 6700k - not in a rush to upgrade until the new graphic cards come out (Nvidia 3000...) but thoughts on going with Comet Lake or waiting until AMDs new 4000 processors come out later this year?
Whats a good motherboard for less than $200 to pair with 3900/3950?
Probably a tomahawk max b450. You should be careful about not overclocking these chips on a b450 board and definitely put some air cooling on the VRM's

Bestbuy has Asus Tuf Gaming x570 Plus on sale for $189. Bought one yesterday. With the x570 will also give you access to the PCIE 4. According to the reviews it's a solid board and if the new Zen 3 blows zen2 out of the water it'll support an upgrade
are these things, sale or not, really worth every dollar you spend? or are they really just overpriced? I never understood $1000+ graphic cards, especially these processors at these prices. #flameON
I'll repeat the same thing...3900x is where it's at!! Best bang for buck
The best bang is probably a 3600 imo, but people looking at a 3950 may have multi-threading applications in mind, or are epeen comparing, an in both cases the 3500 isn't a good option. If you're gaming, however, it is hard to beat.
