Sorry if this has been your experience, that's really unfortunate. I had a TiVo series 3 and now have a Roamio, and both have been rock solid over the years. I paid for the lifetime service on each, and have so far saved hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over what I'd have paid the cable company.

With that said, though, I doubt I'll buy another TiVo. As noted above, CableCard support is a real challenge these days. Plus, the current ownership has really degraded the TiVo experience - I find the search and guide functionality to be in decline, and the new interface has their own ads before playing shows I fortunately have the old interface).

It was a good run, and I've been a happy customer for a decade and a half, but I think the tech has run its course.
Nonsense. I was a Tivo early adopter back in '99/'00, and been using them ever since. I've upgraded 4 or 5 times since but never b/c of a technical issue.
TiVo's OTAs are amazing: live TV pause, recording schedules, streaming services single pane of glass integration. If you're in an area with good TV reception, get the OTA and lifetime service and don't look back. Cable subs are overpriced and good services are available via streaming anyway.

Can you buy a bracket to enable the cable card function in the OTA like it could be done for the OTA Roamio series?

Matches a +63 Frontpage deal from March.

Always has been., never gave it much thought. The utility is much greater to the user, but I can't imagine it costs Tivo that much more.

This is a really good deal if someone wants a Tivo but for me OTA took a back seat to on-demand streaming so I prefer headless DVR options (Recast, Tablo, HDHR, Plex, etc.). Most of my entertainment comes from Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Also, once you need to expand those recordings to more than one screen Tivo makes even more sense.

I personally use Plex for OTA but if I had to do it all over again I would probably go with Recast.

Can I stream my shows (or download them) with the OTA version? I currently have 2 Roamios but they don't stream any of my shows.

NO atsc 3.0 and cable card is dying and people are fleeing cable.

Makes no sense throwing money away.
The company is dying - and I have a heavily used Roamio OTA w/two Minis that seem to get more buggy every month.

Is there a specific model for the Cable Card version? All i see is Vox 500gb and Vox 1tb. I need to replace my Window Media Center PC as i am no longer receiving guide updates. This would be a great value bundled with the lifetime package.
