HD58x if you dont want to invest in amp/dac. It is good/decent for lots of genres. One of the best deals in audio history till now.
I feel the HD6XX is a tremendous value that puts headphones in the $300-700 market to shame.
With one caveat; they are high impedence and require a good amp to drive them. And they scale so well with amping.
*I'd like to believe having an amp is almost a given for those shopping in that $300-700 range.
On that note, it's difficult to recommend the HD6XX if having an amp is not included in the budget.
Just gonna be a dick and say throw another 50 and get a Sundara.
Or save and get a HD6xx or Fidelio X2
Edit: If I recall, someone mentioned in a previous Elegia deal that Adorama isn't a Focal-authorized vendor so warranty is a wash - is that still true?

This is a decent price on a very well rounded pair. Can anybody recommend a Sub $300 pair of usable open back's?
