Quite expensive! I can buy a mini split for 1/3 of the price at Sam's in Tijuana.

Interesting... I've heard that mini-splits in general are much cheaper outside the US.

I actually need a few of these as I'm finishing up a large basement and an addition. I wonder If I can get a few shipped over the border, to the East coast, and still have a decent amount of savings...?

I installed one. It works great.

The instructions are fairly good.

Being that you can't shorten the lines I coiled them and covered them with a tire cover for an RV or trailer.

Mostly a 1 person job. Hanging it is nicer with 2.

They are insanely expensive because the HVAC contractors charge waaaaay too much to install mini splits. Mr. Cool saw that and released th DIY version at a very steep price but still below contractor value.

I don't know why they are so expensive. You can find guys that'll cross over a mini split for you and install it at your house on San Diego for like $600 total parts and labor.

Sam's in Tijuana has a 12,000 BTU York brand for about $432 dollars and a Mirage brand for about $269 dollars

😭😭😭 I'm in North Carolina. I have a guy to install them (even if they weren't DIY), just need a few cheap units lol.

I have one of these that I installed in my 3 car non-insulated detached garage in Florida. It works great and keeps it quite cool in the summer and warm in the mild Florida winter. The installation process is pretty straightforward and the instructions are good enough with many videos online with people showing how to install them. If you can run a 240v line from your panel, you can do this yourself. I put the inside unit near the ceiling on the wall and spooled the extra refrigerant lines in the attic space with the outside unit mounted halfway up the wall on a mounting bracket (not included) on the other side of the same wall. The lines are about 25 feet.

I want a mini split with 2-4 heads. I want to supplement my upstairs cooling at night. Where can I get one with multi-port?

I've been pricing these the last few days. The DIY versions are about 30-40% more expensive than the NON-DIY units of the same type.
