10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

Has anyone had any luck getting this deal while currently locked into a 12 month contract with an existing promo?
The TV plan is a contract, but just some info that the internet only option has no contract. You get a guarantee of 20 bucks off a month for 12 months, but you have zero obligation to stay or renew. Even the CSR told me at the end of twelve months just call in for the best rate at the time because they have no way of enforcing you to remain locked in to your old account.

If you're an existing customer like me paying $95 for the Fiber 1000 call the number and tell them you want to speak with the loyalty department. The first representative transferred me to them and they were able to give me the $49.99 price for 12 months.

Is there any other hidden fees? setup? if I'm not a customer yet? Thx in advance.
I didn't see if anyone answered you, but just confirm you get comped installation and you will not pay an extra dime.

My install couldn't even be done by myself even if I wanted because there was no previous connection and I used to be a Dish Network technician. These two dudes showed up and had to go to the street behind our home and drop fiber from the street. Then they had to run it through the neighbors yard behind us before hooking it to our roof attachment for cable. Then they dropped it into our crawlspace and went under the home so they could route it to the office directly in the middle of the house. All for free - minus the $20 I gave each dude that is Big Grin

Anyone using it in San Diego? How's the network and speed reliability in general, of course it's location dependent. Thanks

I just finished chatting with AT&T support to see if I could take advantage of the $50 offer. I started at $70 over 2.5 years ago, but then that promo ran off and I've been at $90/month for the past 1.5 years. AT&T rep said that the $50 promotion could not be added to my account at this time, but that this might change in June so I should follow up.

I called and complained about my spotty wifi service and my bill increasing (I was on a 12 mo promotion already) and they upgraded me to the Fiber Internet 1000 plan with unlimited data and HBO Max for 1 year at $50/month (this is what I was already paying for Internet 100). Everything was activated over the phone immediately. Very happy about this. Smilie

I really want to switch to at&t from xfinity, considering that I pay $55 for 100mb... BUT I rely on xfinity's hotpsot to keep my phone data usage low, which makes it even better that there's a hotspot at my job so I can surf privately instead of using my job's network. AT&T's hotspots are near non-existent.

Would totally jump on this otherwise, especially if i had a need for more bandwidth at home...

Can anyone tell me if I could use my own modem with att fiber? Or do I have to use their gateway? Thank you for any info.
No, Att supplied modem, but you can use your own router.

That is incorrect. The equipment fee for att is for their "gateway" which is a modem when they use it with their DSL and router when used with fiber. There is no rental fee for the Optical Network Terminal which is the device that attaches to your wall and converts the fiber to Ethernet (and then connects to their gateway).
you can use their gateway in a passthrough mode and this allows you to use your own router. Their gateway is used for some sort of authentication. it's really dumb. no other fiber provider requires this.

There's a thread about the $40/50 1gbps offering, as well as one about the free HBO MAX -- Good info in both of those threads, for those with questions.

Right? It's crazy how people wanna burn ATT at the stake sometimes. I don't get it. I have this service and it's insanely fast. Like literally the only complaint I have ever had, is that it illuminates how far behind most of America's infrastructure really is. Nothing like having GB and struggling to find services that don't cap bandwidth below GB (I mean there are a few, most are gaming providers... surprisingly Epic doesn't choke you, Steam doesn't depending on the sever you're closest to and current traffic level... )

It's nice getting to tanks first in BF though. laugh out loud

I jest. I really love having so much throughput that there is literally nothing anyone on my network can do to choke performance for other users.
Because too many monopolies in place 22 states have laws that prevent Municipal Broadband which is shady AF

What's the installation process like? Currently with Spectrum right now for $50 a month, 200 Mbps and they were just able to activate my line over the phone.
