10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

What's the installation process like? Currently with Spectrum right now for $50 a month, 200 Mbps and they were just able to activate my line over the phone.
You need a fiber line installed so there needs to be junction within 500 feet of your home for them to even attempt it. If you qualify, but that home previously did not have fiber then its a complete installation from the junction which will take about half a day or more.

For first time customers, 1st, a fiber tech will come to your neighborhood to guide the fiber to your house. This one might not even knock on your door. 2nd, an installer will schedule an installation appointment with you. The installer will install a weatherproof box on the outside of your house, most likely on your exterior wall, connect the fiber to the box, connect your house ethernet cable to the box if you have a built in ethernet network in your house. Then install the power source on the other side of the wall indoor to power the outdoor fiber-to-ethernet box. Finally guide the ethernet to the place that you want to put your gateway/modem.

I just finished chatting with AT&T support to see if I could take advantage of the $50 offer. I started at $70 over 2.5 years ago, but then that promo ran off and I've been at $90/month for the past 1.5 years. AT&T rep said that the $50 promotion could not be added to my account at this time, but that this might change in June so I should follow up.
I was in the same boat (~3 years on gigabit, 1st at $80, then $90/month). First rep confirmed HBOmax for my account but couldn't change my internet plan promotion (claimed I was on an EDSP?) but transferred me to Premier Customer Support. She came back and said no other promos on my account other than a "permanent" $29/month that I was grandfathered for, but after about 5-10 min she got me on the $70/month plan, and sent me the new rate right away (even a negative bill for this month with the price change somehow).

Whole process was almost an hour, but for $240 savings for a year, I'm happy. Oh, and kept unlimited data (which was a little confusing on the ATT site claiming thats a $30 value).

Update: I called the 800 listed on my bill (paper/PDF) and the CS said it's only for new customer. I asked CS to connect me with retention team. The retention team CS is very nice and put me on hold to change my existing 1Gb fiber plan pricing to $49.99 for 12 months. I am in Atlanta region with existing AT&T 1Gb fiber only service and was paying $80/month.
Do you have to pay the $10 equipment fee?

Thanks! I live in a large residential condo community so I'm sure the lines are already there. Just placed the order and tech should be here June 1st. Now gotta cancel Spectrum,

Try call Spectrum and tell them you are thinking to switch to AT&T Fiber for $49.99. Last time when I called to cancel service, the retention rep said they can match the speed and price. It was too late for me since I already signed up AT&T fiber for $60 for 12 months.

If you're an existing customer like me paying $95 for the Fiber 1000 call the number and tell them you want to speak with the loyalty department. The first representative transferred me to them and they were able to give me the $49.99 price for 12 months.
is that bundle or just internet? do you have to pay the $10 equipment fee?

The rep didn't say. I only see a $20 discount for 12 months show up in my account. I am paying $80 (no tax/equipment) before. I won't know until my next bill is generated.

The first CS told me the same. I asked her to connect me with retention. This is what show up on my account. Hope it helps. I am in Atlanta region.

I recently switched from spectrum to this fiber deal, I constantly lag streaming YouTube and playing video games. The claimed 900mb download speed is also false, I routinely get around 400mb plugged in. If you have spectrum call and tell them you will switch and they will offer you 400mb for 50$ a month. I think I'm going to switch back to spectrum. Also instalation of all equipment took about 2.5 hours for me, but they came about 3 weeks after they said they would.

I'll give that a shot. AT&T was enticing too though cause they are offering $200 in gift cards for sign up.
