10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.
I called them and ask if they can apply the promotional code the rep said you can either get giftcard or the 49.99 rate ..IDK if this is the case for everyone
It's been an internet order to get $49.99 deal and $200 in gift cards; not phone order.
So from everyone's experience what are the chances 12 months from now when rate goes up that we call in and get the rate back down closer to the original deal. It is a 12 month agreement correct?
p.s. i'm not so upset about the device fee anymore. I am currently already paying a ridiculous hd technology fee and broadcast fees for xfinity tv. Cutting the cord will be well worth it.
Got my first $100 gift card but haven't received the second yet.
I talked to them about second one this morning and she said since I am a new customer, I have to be with AT&T for 14 days in order for them to send same kind of previous reward email to claim second $100.

Pretty easy. Call and say you're moving to Spectrum/Verizon/Cox etc because of the price increase. They'll lower it.

What bastards !!!! AT&T has always been real aholes!!!
$70/m promo was just about to run out and jump to $100/m. I called them and just asked what could be done to drop to the $50 price and they didn't even fight back. The agent was awesome and agreed that if new customers can get it loyal ones should too. Also was grandfathered in on the equipment so no extra fees there. Also was paying $15/m for HBO now so, in essence, looking at it as getting gigabit fiber to the home for only $35/m. Hot damn!
I was not seeing this offer online. Made a call and rep offered 50$ plan with no charge for equipment. No Gift card though as i am existing customer. But rep escalated to offer the gift card.
How as the installation process? Any concerns about COVID-19? I'm planning on getting this soon and cancel my spectrum internet.
Mine was a breeze since my house was already pre-wired for fiber. Tech wore a mask to install. They don't know anything about gateway settings though so afterwards you have to either call in or like myself do your research on how to set the ip passthrough to use your own router. If your using their router then you don't have to change anything.

Most of the work is done outside until then last piece - place and power up the modem inside the house. If that location is by a patio door then minimum interaction. They are equally concerned about coming into your house and will several confirmations too.

The charge is new and made up. I have ATT Uverse/fiber and i have had it for the past 2 years, my current plan does not have or had any charges for equipment rentals. ATT just revised all of their plans and got rid of the uverse branding, the new plans are actually more expensive and have longer length contracts paired with staggered pricing increases. This is all new, a year ago they had decent pricing available with 1 year contract terms. Now contract terms are 2 years with price increases in year 2 + equipment fees. One could say they are doing this because many people are at home due to Covid and are relying on internet/TV more than ever.

its called ONT you can buy nokia fiber ONT for $25 brand new off ebay. But they would prob still charge you the $10 month.
Update: looked at ATT ONT box its literally same nokia ONT but with nokia removed and ATT logo added and base at bottom to cover the cables.

Like someone else said, it's pretty simple. I've had AT&T Internet service for 14 years. DSL first and now their fiber optic service. Back when I had DSL, when they raised the rates, I'd call in, speak with the customer retention dept. (I think now called loyalty dept.) and they'd give me the then-current deal that new customers get. The only annoyance was having to call in to do that every 6 or 12 months, depending on when the promotion expires. Maybe now, you can use the chat feature from their site and hopefully those folks have the same authority to do that.
