With AT&T you pay the rental fee for the residential gateway (RG) if you use it or not.
I then tried to cancel my current service and sign up as a new customer to get the 49.99 rate and get two $100 cards but they will not let me sign up (even under a different name) for service at my address, until the existing service is cancelled- meaning that I would have a gap of time between service.
I can't stand to pay more money to AT&T as they are the filth of the earth but I fear I may be stuck on the 70.00 plan.
WiFi: 300 mbps up/down near router; 200 mbps otherwise

So I guess there is nothing you need to do in order to receive unlike first one, at least it was for me.
