10 bucks isnt for the router, its not even for the modem - its for the Fiber to ethernet converter box that you cannot buy. Thats why even if you have your own compatible modem/router they can still charge you the $10.

Where are you in San Diego and which company is offering 200Mbps for $50? I'm in north county and shopping around for internet service. Wave
I'm by La Mesa and I can get fiber, WAY cheaper and better service than Cox!

What did you tell them? And why are you paying 99$?
Hmm this was months ago but anyways I called and asked for retention. Once I got put in touch with the retention department I told them that if there was anyway I can be switched to this promotion. Dude spent some time but eventually got me the deal.

As for why I was paying $99 at the time they rolled out gigabit service in my area that was the lowest cost without being on contract. I could have saved maybe $10 more if I was under contract but I wasn't sure how gigabit was going to work out so I took the $99.

So if I do this promo they will replace my current AT&T router? I'm on their 80$/month plan 300 MBPS with 30OFF promo...
They might replace your gateway/router. The new one is for areas that have or are planning speed upgrades past 1gig.
It doesn't offer much of an upgrade over the older gateways, but some people want the latest.

I like the older ones because you can replace them with your own router and not deal with their gateway limitations.

I use the same router they gave me for the 300Mbps tier on the 1Gbps tier.

I have the BGW 210.. it was their latest router and I believe it might still be.

I am in Santee, and have ATT fiber 1g. Paying there $50/mo but the promo is about to expire. On the phone now to move to this new promo. Internet has been solid. Running 4 unifi access points in the home ... eek.

Dang! I'm just north of you in Oceanside and we get JACK! No Spectrum service and NO Fiber! I'm stuck with overpriced Cox or ATT slow speed. Frown

Wish we get Fiber soon.

I'm looking for some info about the install process. I'm very hesitant to have more holes drilled into my house. I currently have phone/cable junk installed on the left side of my house, along the garage wall, and thats where I assume fiber equipment will go. So the exterior fiber gox will go on that wall, the box that needs a power outlet will go on the inside side of that wall, right? My garage GFCI outlets are not working right, the breaker trips at least once an hour in summer, less in cold weather. But I do have a garage outlet on the ceiling that isnt GFCI so I could use that temporarily with an extension cord.

Then I assume from the interior box I'll have a cable running from it to the modem/gateway that I will have in the study which is on the right side of the garage. So this cable will run along a wall across the garage and a hole will be drilled through the wall to the study.

Do I have this about right? I wish Comcast would simply match this offer so I didnt need anything new installed.

I am 50 ft away from getting fiber - neighbor across the street can get it, I cannot. No idea if / when they will ever upgrade my side of the street.
