Alps makes great tents, but these aren't the great ones. The great ones are only about $40 more and use aluminum poles and come with full rain flys. Don't buy these walmart versions unless you know what you're signing up for.
you are not comparing apples to apples
the aldi tent:
not a name brand
smaller 10x8.5
dome style - less headroom
warranty - who knows?
floor - not a tub design
alps tent
well know and respected brand name
bigger 10 x 10
cabin style - more headroom
warranty - lifetime defect warrantyfloor - tub design (more waterproof)
Depends. Is there a .357 in your tent?

I was just researching tents yesterday.
Seems good for car camping but too heavy for back/bike packing
For the price point, size and durability, the weight isn't bad at all.... I mean sure you could go pay 3-5 hundred dollars for 3-4lb tents... If you want... All up to what is important to the individual I guess
No offense. Aldi this week has 6 person tent for $50. Just FYI.

Was just going to post something like this. Aluminum poles are a great investment. More than once, on accident, I've ended up with the steel and plastic ones rusting. That usually leads to the elastic stretching out and it being difficult or impossible to assemble the tent.

Right? Why would anyone expect a tent to "protect" them from anything but the elements and insects?
I love Aldi, but whatever they're selling is no comparison to A.M.. These are great tents for the price.
