Not sure I need gig, but I just signed up for 500/500. Spectrum has been terrible for me all of a sudden after close to 2 yrs. I suspect it has something to do with covid-19 overload.
What do you guys think about their non-waivable router rental fee? Even if you use your own router, you will still be charged $10 a month. I've read issues on this. Consumer complaints to FCC, etc. It's to no avail. We have to pay it. But I'm wondering why they want this headache, instead of just putting cost in their advertising and say free router. $50 a month for 500/500 with free router! Why do $40 a month and charge a $10 rental fee, and get the bad optics? They have to file for chapter 11 and have a bad rep in the industry for customer service. I guess it makes sense.
ATT is doing same for 50$+ HBO max ..why Frontier at 50pct costlier.
Unfortunately all ISPs are not available in all areas. Maybe Frontier is the best gigabit service available because AT&T isnt. In my area, only Spectrum is available
Worst customer service. I saw an ad on their website saying free installation. Signed up and then was billed for installation. Called customer service and was told it wasn't free. I told them I printed the ad from their website the day I signed up and can show it to them. They said no and I asked to speak to a manager. The rep said she wouldn't allow me to speak to a manager because the manager would agree with her. Long story short, did a chargeback and won because Frontier never responded.

Just upgraded to 500/500 from 200/200. I spoke to retention to get my frontier secure ($5 monthly charge taken off my bill) and then the rep also told me that starting June 20th, you can call in and tell them you do not want to be charged for the router. They must take the fee off.

Crazy it takes a law, and not common sense. Treat customers well, you earn business and market share. With internet streaming coming on strong and fast, you see cable companies are exposed as being stubborn and can't change in their ways.
