JBL's sub is a big powerful 10 inch sub while most soundbars come with 6 inch sub. This makes JBL better for music and bass effect in movies. However, JBL link bar is not designed to support surround sound. so poor at producing surround sound.

The LG is a 5.1.2 bar, so it has:
3 front channels (left, center, right)
2 simulated surround channels
2 Dolby Atmos channels (for object-based surround)
1 subwoofer
The one on this post is just 2.1:
Left and right channel + subwoofer.
The LG has more output both on the bar and subwoofer, so, more sound coming out of the speakers.
Usually refurbished go through a quality control process before being released to sale again, which make them as good as new.

I wrote a review on the speaker in the other deal thread for this speaker. It's good at this price with the sub. I would have returned it if I paid anything close to MSRP though.
