There are 2 reviews on the adult face masks by the same manufacturer. One gave a 5 star review and said its great bc its machine washable. The other gave 1 Star bc the colors vary (he got black and pink) and it's very thin so he doesn't feel like it provides good protection. So... idk
As far as the actual deal - any mask which lies flat, as these do, cannot conform to the face well for a good fit. The better the fit on your mask - the tighter the seal it makes on your face - the more protection it provides to YOU, the wearer of the mask. No, any cotton, homemade, or pleated surgical-type mask isn't going to protect you as well as an n95 mask would, but they still can provide the wearer *some* protection. One of the best features I've found to get a good fit is a metal bar across the nose which you can bend down to get a tight fit across the bridge of your nose. This also helps to prevent your glasses from fogging as your breath escapes the mask. Without this bar, the curved gaps on either side of your nose make the perfect escape routes for your hot breath to fog up your glasses when you're wearing your mask.
The best masks I've purchased so far have been from LA Apparel. They not only feature the metal nose bar, but the sides of the mask lie flat against my face. I've noticed that the sides of many people's masks, especially the pleated surgical type, bow out from their face quite a bit. While a mask like this would still offer some protection from your coughs and sneezes being projected into the air, it would offer essentially zero protection for the wearer. The same is true all of the flat masks I'm seeing hitting the market recently.
I ordered a pair. It's hard to find masks for my 9 year old. This seems like it will fit and will give some protection vs none. For $5 it's worth a try vs the rediculios amount being charged these days for masks that are useless (blue non N95 masks) that are terribly loose.
Without sounding harsh, you sir are completely wrong. I work at a hospital and these types of masks are to reduce the spread of vaporize contagions (aka germs in your breath or snot) which protects OTHERS at around a 95% reduction of the spread when everyone wears one, not only of COVID but just about any aerosolized spreading contagions. So if everyone wore a basic cloth mask, we could considerably reduce how quickly COVID spread when in public spaces.
Just thought I would contribute what I've been told from our internal meetings. Stay safe everyone!
"95% reduction of the spread when everyone wears one" is at best misleading. Its only in a specific situation - a surgical mask on an infected patient who is expectorating large particles MAY help to those in direct contact. Those in direct contact wearing fit-tested N95's then have at best likelihood of not inhaling a infectious particle.
I work in healthcare too, and I don't claim to be an expert, I just try to be as informed as possible.

Mask shaming is the new TC it seems. Not sure why the mods are not filtering this. Let the politicians do the politics and Scientists do their Science. The post is about a deal. If you have any better deals from a reputed dealer please share or else STFU!
Plenty of science to support the negative effects before this Covid problem....
From a 1989 study on masks including surgical masks and absorption of cancer drugs by aerosolization :"They are thus not suitable as protection against inhalation of cytostatic aerosols"
A 2008 preliminary study: "Considering our findings, this is the first clinical investigation reporting a decrease in blood O2 saturation and an increase in pulse rates of the surgeons after the operations due to surgical mask usage."
This is why we have professionals to interpret scientific studies and not random people on the internet. 🤦 ♂️
Just got 4 masks. These are good if you want something when you are outside with enough open air and less crowd(for eg. Parks or trails). I wouldnt recommend wearing these in crowded places.
