Or you can just do 2 tb each of butter or oil, flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and milk. A pinch of salt, microwave for 1 minute and you're good to go...just takes an extra 1 minute to measure out the ingredients....and most people keep those ingredients on hand ....except maybe the cocoa powder...which cost 2$ for 8oz....(enough to make more than 20 of them)
And I mean, yes, you could just mix flour, cocoa, butter, sugar, blah blah but man...if I'm going to get that much crap out of the pantry/fridge, I'll just make a whole damn cake. I want something I can just throw together in seconds and nuke. You could make up baggies of it, I guess, preportioned. But at that point, again, I'll use box mix because forget that plain chocolate cake noise...I could have carrot cake, spice cake, pineapple cake, strawberry cake....
