I have a work desktop with 6GB RAM, with Win 10 I can easily have 10-15 chrome tabs open over multiple desktops with Spotify and my work software running without any noticeable slowdown.
BTW take ssd out and put hdd instead, you'll see right away if 6gb is enough
It appears enough only cause there's ssd and much faster swap, which can kill modern qlc ssd fast
The point isn't really whether 8gb enough or not in general, its nonsense to have 6-8 core cpu with 8gb that we cannot even upgrade. If it were some 2 core slow cpu, that would be fine.
Easy pass.

You get the usual idiot who thinks they need 16-32 gb ram to surf the web and type on word and become keyboard warriors

Not even a voids warranty or protection thing
I could optimize setup, but I simply don't want to waste my time optimizing setup, reinstalling windows every half a year etc.
My time simply cost more than whatever amount of RAM/SSD etc, and I will pay more for a laptop with 2 slots replaceble RAM and will put in it whatever it supports (even if its 64gb) and will forget about for next 5 years. You are welcome to save pennies on a crap laptop with soldered RAM and keep optimizing it till it dies
I prefer to use devices for doing actual work
Outside of video games and Photoshop, and python data analytics on huge data sets (professionally), 8gb has never been a limiting factor for me, and I've been building my own desktops for over 20 years. My current laptop I upgraded to 8gb and it's 4 years old and it's still fine: even with Photoshop, 8gb is unlikely to be a problem unless you're working with very high resolution TIFF or RAW files, multiples at a time.
