I bought 4 of these a few months back when they were sold out, thinking the polarized climate would help with resale. So far it's taken me a long time to move these.

You do hit on a major crux of the issue - socialism and social welfare are not the same thing - yet are constantly treated as if they are.

Is the game actually fun to play or is the whole thing basically a gag? I bought Monopoly for Millennials and they clearly went for the gag over gameplay. Opened it once, gameplay sucked, haven't touched it since.

Everything I've heard about this is that it's just a gag, and not a particularly fun or funny one.

Fun fact: Monopoly was created by a socialist to show how unfettered capitalism naturally leads to most people being broke and one person owning everything. It originally had a second set of "Prosperity" rules where property owners paid taxes and the game was won cooperatively when the player who started with the least money had doubled their wealth.

My 10 year old daughter and I played it once and thought it was ok. I found the instructions on how to win a little confusing. There are definitely plenty of funny one liners across the game, ribbing things like vegans, dairy-free, and old people. Understandably, my daughter didn't get most of the jokes.
