I have a daughter who is a college student and I noticed a great deal on these tablets on Samsung.com but only if you can get the student and educator discount.

Start here to set up an account: https://www.samsung.com/us/shop/a...ent-deals/

Very nice alternative to the Ipad deals right now.

I went for the 128 GB for the extra $40 to get the extra memory (6 GB vs 4 GB).

These prices are before any trade-ins which can save you even more money.

I bought one at $322.99 as posted. I used to work at a major University and they never got rid of my edu account so I was able to register using that. So if you have any kind of edu email address, this discount will work. They don't use a more stringent verification system like some other places.

Thanks for the post!

Could somebody explain what the thumb downs are for? Why is it a bad deal?

For those of you who don't have an education email, there might be a work around. You can follow the original link.

Click on register. State that you're a parent. That will bring up the student pricing. Add what you want to the cart. After the tablet is in your cart with the student prices, click on checkout and they will ask you to create an account. You can just try using your regular email address and once you log in, the student pricing might remain in the cart.

Worth a shot at least.

It's a great deal but only if you can score the student pricing.

Don't worry about what other people think as you just saved yourself about $80 over any other authorized reseller.

This never seems to work. I use a .edu account and registered with the student benefits, it shows student benefits in my account info, but it shows $394 at checkout for the 64gb tablet despite showing the lower price in the store. So their site is messed up for some reason.

OP do you have a direct link to the tablet itself? I'm not seeing the prices in your OP on their site. I see $297.49 for the 64GB wifi and $339.99 for the 128GB version if I'm looking at the right one.

Even with Unidays which is for student discount, I am only seeing $315 and $360 for 64gb and 128gb. I have always assumed the direct student discount is the same as going through Unidays.

When you are signed in, does it say on the top?
"Welcome to the Samsung Education Store Member Store Please enjoy our special offers for you"
That's what it says when i sign in through Unidays.

"Student" discount applies only to College students, right? Not high school?

Come on militaryxchange, I hope you release this for like $275.

hmm. was thinking about updating my 3 years old s3, only to realize that s5e's processor's about the same, if not slower than tab s3.

what a huge disappointment.

So I have a Tab S3 (that now my kid uses) and the Tab S5e. Don't let the specs mislead you - despite single core scores being similar, the 670 eats the 820's lunch on multicore (has 4 more) and the battery is off the chain better. Overall, I likely wouldn't have upgraded from a Tab S4, but pull the trigger and trade in that S3 to get this new one for peanuts.

This tablet is built for media consumption which it excels at, not gaming or much in the way of productivity.
This is certainly reflected in the pricing of the tablet. The true step up model to the s3 is the s 6 which costs boatloads more.
