sure. i have a berndes non stick pan I got in the 90's and it's still in very good condition but other 3-4 berndes pans are gone for years...
teflon degrades at certain temps.. if you use it to sear or anything of sorts (brown, or it cooks without water) once temp goes over 350f, it starts to degrade... the non-stop 2qt saucier I have is mostly used to warm things up and make quick sauces, which rarely go over 212f.
I waffled back-and-forth about a 4 quart "Essential" or "Weekday" pan, as I've been wanting a saucier, and they are very similar. However, Cutlery and More is selling the Demeyere Industry5 and 5-plus 3.5 quart sauciers for $100 right now, so I think I'll go that way:

(Yes, I know I post Cutlery and More links frequently. I swear I'm just a satisfied customer. In this case, it's totally by chance, too -- these just came up in my comparison searches.)
I usually but cheap brand coating non stick pan and replace when it starts sticking, in average, it takes about 1 to 2 year.
Their 'Hard-Anodized' non-stick pans seem to last if taken care of.

Lots of ppl say to start w/ the 12", but I use my 10" far more, but i'm not cooking for a large family. Nor am I browning large hunks of meat on it (full tenderloin, prime rib, etc), I have other pans/flamethrower for that.

There are a few 10" and I can't tell the differences.

I'm happy the SD5 was available, since I'd expect the greater widths are where the 5-ply makes a difference. D5 doesn't make much sense for pans less than 10" or most pots. And the Copper core seems to have suboptimal layering.
