    I agree completely. That term and the whole solar generator thing drives me nuts on these. They even advertise them as being quiet generators. I'm afraid it might be too late to fix this and these very useful devices may well be called solar generators forever.

    That said, this is a pretty decent little device. Not a ton of backup power, but for that price it's a handy little thing to keep with an emergency bag to keep devices charged and have some power options for awhile.

    If they came WITH the solar panel.....then you could call it a generator loosely.... This box is a storage device though, not a generator.

    Pisses me off when they call gas generators generators. They don't even come with gas and you have to plug them into a gas source to get them to do anything other than weigh down paper. Then when you run out of gas you have to buy more gas in order to get it to do anything useful again.


    Actually scratch that, doesn't piss me off that would be too extreme, I don't really care, but it is funny.

    Pretty sure they are called generators since these are used in pretty much the same situations you would use a gas generator. Pretty similar to asking someone to xerox something...

    At 100 watts max, it's going to be tough to run some higher draw things like CPAPs. Also, it seems odd that they'd have a DC output but not use the more standard 12v cigarette lighter adapter. I guess these bottom end models are really geared more toward people who aren't aware of the higher efficiency in keeping things DC to DC. There's even a pic of someone plugging in a USB wall wart. It's too bad because these Jackery units looks good, especially the display.
