The main problem with this recommendation is that you are telling people "spend twice as much and you'll get something better" - which is almost universally the case with everything in life. Sure, if the difference was only $50 or $100 then the recommendation would be useful, but we're talking around $600 for a comparable system and that's buying everything piecemeal and open box receivers. It's just an entirely different situation.
So please go tell Vizio that they are spreading lies about their own products. YOU DO NOT OWN THIS SYSTEM!
I believe that must have been SB36512 (5.1.2 configuration) and most folks get confused between the models. This one has rear upward firing speakers too. I don't think SB36514 ever went this cheap. Cheapest was $385 last year during BF.

There was a Slickdeal post on this just few days ago when the price was $500 in Costco & I was contemplating whether to hit the buy button or not. Reviews on this particular model have been very good. I am not sure if the firmware issues (that are generally on Vizio soundbars) are present in this or not. At this price, I think it is the cheapest Atmos soundbar in 5.1.4 configuration. Very slick deal!!
One of the reviewers of the product mentioned that he/she got it for $269 at Costco.

Yep, I was looking at it when it was $499 too and when I saw it today for $299 I jumped on it. The reviews mention that this one does not have the firmware issues the 5.1.2 Vizio system had.

Yeah. In another thread, some fellow SD'ers commented that firmware issues have been ironed out. I will check for this once I receive my order. I already had this in my cart and hit the buy button as soon as I saw this post here. Thanks!!
I had the 5.1.2 version before, and returned it to Costco. We got a new x950g for Christmas and the system didn't work too well with the TV. The arc connections weren't communicating properly.
I went with a budget ht setup with the Sony core series (5.2.4 config) and a cheap pioneer receiver. This setup is leaps above anything the vizio soundbar setup. IMO better to save up money and get a budget HT setup.
HOT DAMN
I just bought this from Costco for $500 2 weeks ago
It's awesome and now I get to get a price adjustment!
Glad I kept the slick deal alert alive!

Wife says no wires running around the house. I hope a setup like this with the rear speakers connected to wireless subwoofer is the only option left for me. Can't comment on firmware issues yet & will return if need be.

I've had it for a couple of weeks and overall it's amazing
I have it just turn itself off in the middle of watching something a couple of times
not sure what that's all about but I'm willing to wait for a firmware update or get a replacement if needed...that's why I buy these things at Costco
I upgraded from an older 40" Vizio 5.1 soundbar setup that I really loved but I wanted to check out ATMOS
This setup blows that old one out of the water. It really fills the room with sound and I've noticed new sounds in movies I've watched a hundred times all around me.
I'm extremely impressed with it.
Also the subwoofer is a little beast for just being 6-inches. I actually had to turn it down a notch

I don't believe this has ever been cheaper and you're not going to get back speaker atmos for anywhere near this price anywhere else.
