Maybe someone can help me out. Noticed that if i flip the screen down (to enter sleep i assume?) Later, if i flip the screen open (sometimes i won't use the comp till the evening.. basic web, YouTube videos here and there) the battery drains quite a bit? Anyone know what the issue could be?
I have turned on hibernation and set the power settings to have the computer go into hibernation after too long a sleep. With the SSD, even waking from hibernation is not too long a wait.

Looks like you took out both of the existing 4GB modules instead of leaving one in. Any particular reason?
you don't want to mix and match memory, especially from different manufacturers. I ended up getting another 16gb module to max it out @ 32gb RAM

Hi, did you buy this HP envy ryzen 5 5400U?
If you have, can you run a test to see if this laptop throttles? I'm not sure if you'll be able to respond to me. To test laptop for throttling, download and run Prime95 and also hwinfo64, and after running it for 10 minutes, check in hwinfo64 and find out if the laptop throttles. Thanks.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

If anyone is interested in upgrading the RAM for this laptop I just uploaded a video of myself doing it in-depth and I have a link to the 16GB kit I used in the description. I'm also going to link the tool kit I used which really helped out with the plastic tools.

https://youtu.be/2Xuf7hGzs68

Also you can see in my video that there is indeed an extra M.2 slot to add another hard drive. Not sure if its NVME or SATA type though.

Can you or anyone tell me if you void the warranty when you upgrade the RAM?

No stickers or anything over areas that would make it obvious it has been opened?

Maybe 2021 will standardize 12gb for mid range.
12gb is suboptimal because that means mismatched ram module pairing.. I am not sure it's possible to do 12gb matching ram for soldiered ram?

From one of the comments, I understood that it's better to have 2x8GB RAM than different size 20GB RAM.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
The technician at Costco told me if you upgrade you had to use 2 of the same otherwise it won't work. So 2x 8gb, 2x 16gb etc etc

I was thinking the RAM pokie song when you were taking the RAM out too.

So time to shop for another M2 drive. Any M2 suggestions? Looking like 1 TB is the best price point?

From the above video i cant seem to see any space for a regular 2.5 drive? Not that I actually care about 2.5. M2 is really the way to go! I will soon open mine. But it is great to see more and more laptops having two M2 slots as well as doing away with the 2.5.

I think if possible, we should find out if M2 slots are SATA and/or NVme. I've seen some only do one or other and not both. Ideally should do both but if not, then it should do nvme. also need to find out if the nvme slots are x2 or x4 for both slots.

Btw, if anyone is interested, these m2 nvme PCIe slots actually act like a regular PCIe slot a lot of time. Meaning you can actually plug in a real graphic card using adapter but obviously only at PCIe x4 link speed. Someone did that for the motile M142. Not very practical but is interesting to see.. Regarding webcam issues, can someone please confirm the driver details

On my laptop,

HP Wide Vision HD Camera

Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date : 06/21/2006
Driver Version: 10.0.18362.815

If your webcam is working fine without resolution issues with this driver version, please confirm.
