JBL Studio 580 Sale: Limited time offer on select models. Promotions valid on HarmanAudio.com only, from Jun 15, 2020, 12:00 AM PT to Jun 21, 2020, 11:59 PM PT.
For those wondering versus R263s check the Infinity reference thread on Avsforum. Most comparison is to the 590s with the general consensus seeming to be that the R263s are slightly clearer while the 590s have slightly better sound stage and bass. I would suspect with the 580s the bass advantage won't be there as much. After checking this I am planning to stick with the R263s.

Glad to see these on sale again, past few runs have only been the 590s.
These have 6.5" woofers vs. the 590s having 8" woofers. My .02... the significantly lower cost and somewhat easier to manage size (still big!) make these very attractive if you are using subs in your setup or otherwise don't need the higher output of the 590s.
These are ~50lbs each vs. ~70lbs for the 590. Also shorter at ~42" vs. ~50".
Budget wise you could do 3 of these up front or put the ~$300 difference into your sub(s) vs. a pair of the 590s.
I got these babies during the last $299 sale. They arrived in 2 weeks later all wrapped on a pallet; the free delivery was much better than when I ordered the 2 subs (huge dents and dings). These towers are perfect - they completed the JBL 7.2 home theater.
Just got my r263's in last night.
Now they put these on sale...
The 580's are better than the R263's for just $100 more. There are numerous positive reviews for them. The R263's has just one review from 2014. These were due for a sale.
Excellent speakers at this price. I have the 590's and 520 center. The designer of these speakers actually prefers the sound of the 580's over the 590's. The 580's sound a little better in the midrange because smaller midwoofers cross over to the tweeter a little better.
The 580's are very similar to the 590's. The 590's are clear, detailed, smooth and punchy with a large front sound stage, not bright at all and no listening fatigue. They sound better if you give them some power. I'm feeding the 590's with true 300-400 watts each from a pro amp and they can crank to insane levels with no distortion, you're ears will give up before the speakers.
As usual I recommend getting a pro amp (around 500 watts/channel at 8ohms) to drive your front l/r speakers. With the 580's and 590's the extra power helps to control the 4 woofers giving you tighter, cleaner bass. Also the amp will last forever and you'll have enough power to drive any speakers you buy in the future. You'll also save money in the long run because you can buy a/v receivers with features you like and not have spend more $ for an a/v with more power.

I guess I'll compare r263 to the 530,.and decide from there.
Just ordered r263 still not received them.Should I try to cancel and order these instead? I do not like physical design though, but I hear good reviews about them where as for r263 virtually no reviews?
Are they free returns too just incase one wants to try them? hear that reently jbl/harman is charging return fees.
I would have definitely considered these if I hadn't just received the Infinity R263's. I am happy with the R263's...and they look gorgeous! I do have the Studio 530's and love them!
Would these be a notable upgrade over a pair of Polk Monitor 70 ii?
Yes. I haven't listened to to Polk 70's in a long time but I would say that it would be a significant upgrade. The compression tweeter and waveguide on the JBL's is what really makes them sound good. They sound even better if you remove the grill and install the bottom part of the waveguide.
