So when these fail, instead of your car falling on you, your house burns down.

Interesting, I wasn't aware that was a risk with this product. Can you share from where you obtained that info? May cancel my order. Thanks.

I think the other poster may have been a tad extreme, implying that because these are Harbor Freight, they're probably poor quality. I doubt HF is going to willingly open themselves up to massive lawsuits by selling string lights that have the potential to catch fire. That said, I do like to verify string lights like this are UL certified. I couldn't find anywhere where it said they were though.

If you look at this brands other lights on Harbor Freight they are UL listed. Plus, if you watch the video for these you can see the UL listed logo.

I purchased 2 sets and plan on setting them up on backyard porch. Does anyone have recommendation for hanging them? Clips or other?

I see, thanks for that. I can't find the UL info on this set, but did find this photo of the box of the non-color changing model and it is indeed UL listed. I would assume the same for these.
*EDIT* The UL listed emblem can be seen on this promo video on Facebook [facebook.com].

UL listed?

serious question. if we use a non UL listed ceiling light shipped from china (through amazon), and the house burns down because of that, will insurance cover? sometimes they only blame on the installation, not the non UL items. just wondering...

I've heard that question asked before and cannot find anything definite so I'd assume one would need to review their complete underwritten homeowner's policy to be sure. I'd assume the liability, if such an incident occurred, would lie with the manufacturer of said non-UL listed device.

He's also making a reference to the massive recall recently on the Pittsburgh jack stands from HF that are at risk of collapsing.

Color changing? Sounds incredibly tacky.

Same. I held out and received mine a week ago or so and installed today. Thought a Clark griswald moment was assured but we have light.

Ya I have to say the quality seems legit but man stringing those bad boys up was an adventure. The Youtube video I watched mentioned turnbuckles almost as an aside when detailing what tools/materials to use. I must say that my experience says turnbuckles are an absolute necessity to get the guide wires straightened out appropriately.
