It is worth noting that Seuss has a racist past. Some people object to buying his books. You should decide for yourself how you deal with Seuss.

Corduroy is one example of a beloved children's book that features black characters.
Personally, I thought of "The Sneetches" to be a specifically anti-racist story as it talks about characters initially excluding each other based solely on appearance (it's one of my favorites to read to my boys) who eventually come to realize the error of their ways.
To come back to the story featured here though I never cared for "Ten Apples Up On Top", simply because it does not consistently follow Suess's usually rhythm.
