yeah 1 lux = 1 lumens. i bought it but I hope the brightness is better than my existing desk lamp which is 14W and 530 lumens.

if it's really 400, then I'll be disappointed.

Crap. From the Amazon review:
A: Yes. The lumen index for this lamp is 400lm. It is a 12W led lamp up to 1000 lux. The light is bright and adjustable to meet different task requirements.

Lux does not equal lumens; they are 2 different things. Lux is how much light falls on a wall. Lumens are how much light is emitted in all directions.

It just means it's a 400 lumen light which is not a lot (typical LIFX bulbs are 1100) but the light is very concentrated.
1 lux = 1 lumens/ m^2.

I would not buy this if you are looking for a very bright lamp. But since it's small and targeted may be okay for illuminating a small part of the desk.

I'm in for one. I've always liked this style of lamp and finally decided to buy one after years of seeing them pop up on here. Does anyone know about the quality of Tao? I don't think I've ever purchased anything from them.

Last time I ordered from them never received the order. I opened a claim with paypal and they never responded to paypal messages so I am in the process of escalating it. Fraudulent company.
