Just read a news release when I was trying to find some product info:

June 16th, 2020

Guangzhou Powecom Labor Insurance Supplies Co., Ltd appoints www.bonafidemasks.com , a division of Ball Chain Mfg. Co., Inc. as the new premier distributor for our FDA Authorized KN95 mask products in the USA.

FDA Appendix A: Authorized Imported, Non-NIOSH Approved Respirators Manufactured in China (Updated: June 17, 2020) [fda.gov]

The unit price isn't cheap: $2.4 each and shipping fee is kind of high: around $14 per order via UPS ground, although you can order more to cut down both unit price and shipping cost per unit.

However, this may be the first time we know we can get a quality KN95 on FDA authorization list from a trustful vendor which is endorsed by manufacturer.

The 2 methods use by www.fixthemask.com [fixthemask.com], the rubber sheet method seems better.

And the study they do, it show their method pass the N95 test.
https://medium.com/@fixthemask/la...59dbb926a3 [medium.com]

And since N95 not supposed to have much leakage and KN95 allow up to 10% of leakage, then the www.fixthemask.com [fixthemask.com] method that pass the N95 method may be better than KN95(?)

Need to remember N95 usually not as comfortable as KN95 between of tighter fit to avoid air leakage. So using extra rubber bands or rubber sheet will make surgical mask tighter and less comfortable than just surgical mask by itself. May be use it only in high risk area for shorter amount of time.
I worked with one of the lead mechanical engineers involved with this project from a previous job, and because of quality of work, I have massive doubts on accuracy of results.

While I commend anybody trying to help with this, I don't trust any numbers she's putting out. If you can, get your face into a proper 95 mask.

With that said, any mask is better than no mask, so if you feel this method is for you, then by all means go ahead and use it. Though rubber bands hurt like a mofo.

Where could I get them, even for $4 a piece?

I literally can't find them anywhere for any price.

Exactly my point , which is why the general public has to settle for kn95 unless they have connections in the medical field bringing them masks.... but regardless the kn95 are much better than and cloth mask or the cheap blue masks.... the kn95 filter out some incoming virus while the others do not

THanks for this post, I've been using these masks since they fda announced their approved kn95 masks (mainly because these are the easiest to find and identify). Just have a question about the powecom website itself. Why is it not a secure website?

I too have my doubts. I tried the rubber bands and found no way they could provide an adequate seal on the sides all around, only at the point of the knots themselves. No matter how much adjusting I did there was significant leakage. Glad I'm not the only one questioning it. Thanks for the information.

Ordered last Saturday afternoon; package delivered Friday so fast shipping. Powecom package has anti-fake sticker. Would order from this company again without hesitation.

In for a pack. Thanks, all, for good info. in this thread.

I was lucky enough to get a few packs of headband-style Powecoms early on from NE Hydroponics. Not sure why those became impossible to find, but whatever. They're still listed on Powecom's site: http://www.powecom.com/eng_product1.html

Anyway, since then I've bought a few packs of ear loop-style Powecoms as well. A few details on those...

What NE Hydroponics sent me looks a lot like that 4/21 batch with etching that's listed as "counterfeit" on the CDC's site (https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/r...ed-508.pdf). There are a few differences (e.g. welds where the ear loops attach), though, and the quality is there, as is the little certificate inside the package. I don't think they're actually fake, just indicative of changing standards/practices at one of Powecom's factories. See attached pic.

What the Best Vape shop sent was from the 5/2 batch. Also good quality, as far as I can tell. A few welds were sloppy, but it's not enough to complain about.

I'm glad to have found out about Bonafide. Looking forward to seeing that anti-fake label for peace of mind.

When did you buy those from NE Hydroponics? Because what they have pictured on their site right now is this:

You may want to check back periodically on the Bona Fide Masks site. I think I remember reading somewhere that they will be getting those at some point.

Thanks for sharing. How's your experience w/ headband? pros and cons compared to earloops? I heard it could get tighter fit/seal than earloops but not sure if it's comparable to N95. Also I got same feeling as you, my orders from ebay look just as the same. I believe they're from different channels, not necessarily fake. Even the one didn't pass CDC test looks like real. It's possible Powecom got inferior meltblown fabric for that April batch. Having said that, buying from authorized vendor should be the way to go.

My order just arrived from Bonafide. Manuf. date 6/2/20, QC code on the back scratches off (redirects to wechat?) but everything looks legit to me. Cut one up, has 5 layers. Before that, confirmed it didn't let any water in from the outside (I flipped it inside out and filled it with water). Ear loops result in a pretty snug fit around my face.

Per a reddit thread from Bonafide, they are looking to have headband style in stock next week:

Repped!

I was in the market for genuine KN95 masks! Ordered 10 for $29 on 6/22 and the masks were delivered today on 6/29. Anti-fake sticker included - verified genuine masks on manufacturer's website. I'm happy with this purchase Smilie

5 layers... interesting. In regards to the headband style, I don't think any of those were tested by the CDC? Hopefully the mask itself is the same.

Thanks for posting. Can you post a picture of the 5 layers?

The masks I purchased from NE Hydro and Back to Normal also had 5 layers (outer, two meltblown, hot air cotton, and inner layer).
