I really don't expect movement in the original Matisse chips.--$10 at most-- so it's nothing to sit on if you want to buy now. The XT chips don't add a lot of value except maybe a guarantee of FCLK going to 2000Mhz.
That's fine, but they will come in higher priced and there's no reason for AMD to cannibalize their profitability on the existing chips. $399 (microcenter) or $409 (newegg here, or sometimes elsewhere) is probably going to remain the 3900X sale price, or with a minimal drop.
With the 3800XT officially retailing close to where the 3900X sells now, I wonder if what we'll instead see is the non-T versions phased out, and the T versions selling closer to the actual MSRP. So it might be that once the existing stock of 3900X sells out, the choice is 3800XT around $400 or $3900XT around $500, but no 3900X option left at all.
We need a 3900 with the clock speed of the 3600, for $320. Double the cores for double the price. They could do the same with a 3700. A flat percore cost,4 core to 16 core to choose from

Waiting for this as well. Hopefully we'll see the price drop before the XT release in July 7th.

Also xt series will not be dropping the price for this any more than it is. Xt series is a waste of time. This at 400 >>> 3800xt
