Just curious, but any reason why this deal is being TD'd? Freezers are pretty hard to find right now, with everyone trying to get one due to COVID... I've been looking for one for months and this is the first time I've seen one at a reasonable price.

I'm going to hazard a guess that it is because it's not a deal, but rather an in stock alert much like the half dozen daily disinfecting wipe alerts that popup.

Chest type freezers are far more efficient. https://youtu.be/CGAhWgkKlHI

But they take more space and are a pain in the butt to organize and retrieve items.

I'll take your word on efficiency, but I wish I had a upright freezer instead of a chest freezer. It's a pain in the ass to find anything in the chest freezer since there are no shelves / everything is sitting on top of the other items. It would be nice to have shelves to be able to better organize items.

I guess if also depends on how you plan on using the freezer. If you're just deep freezing things and rarely getting anything out of it I could see the efficiency outweighing the convenience of a upright, but we probably get stuff out of it at least once every day or two so it's pretty annoying. The basement doesn't have a great place to put an upright though (have a built in shelf the chest freezer is under right now) so alas chest freezer it is!

defrosting a chest is easier and if you are looking for longer storage upright doesn't make much sense.

Considering the limited quantity and high demand, in stock alert = slick deal. In for one!

Probably because the title hides that the 7cf is 300 dollars.

Thanks for the write up, actually made me consider a lot of things. I have a small condo so space is definitely a consideration and I also plan to use this for regular access (weekly meal prep stuff) vs long term storage.

The title does have "7.0cf 300 3.0 179", but without the dollar signs, I could see how people just miss the 7cf being $300.

Just FYI, Lowes has these Hotpoint freezers on sale, you can use Brickseek to check stock around you, but you can't order online.

5.1 - $179

In for one. Been waiting to get a smaller freezer. Like the efficiency of chest freezers but concerned about functionality with layers of frozen items to toss around while searching for that long lost whatever. This should work fine for our two person household. Thanks!
