. I scored the hedge trimmer, blower, and string trimmer with battery kit for $300 flat after using one of those Pro Xtra $20 off $200+ coupons. Sold the battery and charger that came with the string trimmer for $80 almost immediately (probably coulda got more) so ended up being $220 for 3 tools. Pretty slick.
I just did the same. Unsure what to do. The blower is good although I have nothing to compare it to. The hedge trimmer seems alright but I can't use it one handed without rigging the top trigger. I can use my Ryobi one handed but the weight is off. My trimmer (weed whacker) was used but put in the box to look normal! Will return it for a "new" one.
How are the Makita 18v compared to DeWalt? They looked nice in the store, but I'm wondering about the power. I know they make a line of tools that takes 2x18v batteries. Wondering if I should opt for those, or go with DeWalt. I want something that I can expand to other tools also, but right now I need a string trimmer and a blower.

I am keeping the blower and the lawn trimmer. I returned the hedge trimmer. It was lighter than my Ryobi and sharper. However the Ryobi felt like it had more power, articulates up to 90 degrees both ways, and can be operated with one hand if need be. You could perform one handed operation with the Makita if you taped the handle release together. The blower blows stuff. The lawn trimmer seems fine. I like that it has a mode where you can change the direction of the motor. The trimming string that comes with it is terrible.
edit: I can not compare them to the DeWalt just general observations.
