Have a wired alarm system? Make it smart with Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit ā€“ a wired-to-wireless bridge that conveniently connects your existing hardwired contact sensors to your Ring Alarm system. Requires Ring Alarm Base Station.

$149.99 is $50 cheaper than lowest price according to CCC and it's the first time I've seen this on sale.

Just installed the ring system with retrofit kit. Installation was pretty simple and straight forward. Only thing I wished for was hardwire plug with backup battery instead of running solely on AA batteries.
Came to $135 plus tax after the 10% discount for having a Ring Plus subscription. If you are buying this and don't already have the plus subscription sign up for it first.
That is how wired security panels work afaik. We would know which zone is triggered and not the individual contact sensor if there are multiple sensors connected to a single zone. It is very common to have multiple contact sensors in a single zone. What I did was to logically separate them for easy ID, like downstairs windows are all one zone.

I have used this with my old ADT 15-p panel. No monthly fees but wife and I receive notice if it's armed or disarmed, set off ect. Nice to know when the kids get home and verify they set the alarm after entering. We can set it remotely from our phones and even arm it with Alexa. It also can be integrated with SmartThings with some effort.

Thanks for pointing that system out. Hopefully Ring gets a clue and interfaces through the keypad interface like this one does in a future retrofit kit! That's what I'm holding out for.

google has lots of options, if you think the research is hard, good luck with setup!

the linked envizalink is a great option, I have the older ad2usb which also works well for me.

I considered envizalink and konnected, but we were already in the ring ecosystem with cameras so the $10/mth with monitoring was a no brainer for us. Plus the customization you get in the app or online, wireless sensors they are dead simple to add where old alarm system didn't offer coverage, and accessories I could add like the flood sensor were all bonuses. Using the retrofit kit along with the ring alarm system made me realize how outdated my wired alarm system was. We don't even use the alarm keypad, everything is easier from the app.

This could also be a cheaper solution for those DIY types. Run some 22/2 to some cheap reed switches instead of wireless switches. Additional benefits would be not needing to worry about batteries and some could argue that wired is more reliable though I've never had issue with any of my ring wireless alarm sensors.

I've talked myself into buying this in preparation of buying a home soon.

So what is the point of this item if you have to buy the kit for it to work?

So this was a really good deal as I didn't know about this retrofit kit until I saw this deal and it came right when I needed to retrofit an older alarm system where I knew I didn't want to deal with setting up all the Ring sensors and was hoping for a way to reuse the existing sensors of the old alarm system. Got the Ring protect plus discount first and got this for $135 and it shipped and came in 2 days. I then installed the retrofit kit following their installation video step-by-step which was pretty easy once I figured out the wiring from the zones of the old alarm system (did not use a multimeter). I'm still using the practice mode and need to request an alarm permit from the city. However, I hope this helps someone else that I found the old alarm system can be used to route power to the Ring keypad since it had a power brick running to the old keypad. I realized I needed a wall plate of some sort to cover and mount the Ring keypad over the hole from the old alarm system and found this 3D printer solution. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3617664
Then I wanted to be able to power the alarm and found a converter which has USB or microUSB options but I went with the USB so I could just plugin my own microUSB in case I needed to plug something else in the future. eoocvt DC Converter Buck Module 12V Convert to 5V USB Output Power Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JHH2...aFbYBCR67V
The link to the microUSB version is in the comments of the first thingiverse link.

If u have ADT and planning to retrofit this and then cancel ADT, you are out of luck. If u cancel ADT, they deactivate the whole system remotely even though technically, you already own it.

I was with ADT for 15 years...my bill went from $19.99 to $54/month. I purchased the whole Ring system from Costco ($149 special 2 months ago). Installed and activated.

Cancelled ADT (which was another issue as they kept giving me the run around between different departments). After 2 weeks of cancellation, my ADT panel went "blank". I'm already using Ring but was surprised that ADT renders the whole alarm useless and u cant even use it in offline mode.

Lastly, if u work in healthcare, u get extra 30%on top of the subscription discount. I just purchased the outdoor Solar Cam and was able to stack both discounts.

Can you tell me more about the 30% discount? I'm only seeing 20%.

Looks like they bumped it down to 20%. I had ordered mine during the Covid lockdown and it was 30%.

This might be a solution for window security... I've always wanted to add an infrared eye sensor going across the window diagonally.

I can't use motion sensors because of large dogs
