Unfortunately when people keep buying these for $130+, they won't sell them for anything less.

That's a pretty good deal. The 5TB WD is on sale for $100. surprised this isn't on the popular page yet.

I'm asking in here but please refer me elsewhere. I want a reliable home backup and do not need portability, just reliability. It will not be used for daily access like streaming or anything, just reliable backup of family photos, videos etc. I had regular desktop models like this fail on me and was looking into NAS etc, but again not looking for storage that needs that type of throughput etc. Are there drives with let's say two drives in RAID that could be connected to ethernet that aren't $500 NAS's. I know this particular model is a single 8TB drive, correct? That's what worries me. I don't want to drive to just fail one day.

Thank you In Advance!!

Edit: So I'm looking at the WD MyCloud or Buffalo Station. Is this the best ones? I'm really looking for opinions or suggestions from my SDers because you guys have always given best advice compared to "experts" or reviews online.
