They're just called fans.

It's funny, it hasn't even been a particularly hot summer, yet fans have been flying... ehrr, blowing off store shelves like toilet paper from 2 months ago. I have a couple Vornados, and they're generally good fans with a great warranty. Given this price range, though, I wanted to add that I just bought one of those Woozoo remote control globe fans from Costco (based partially on a recommendation from another SD'er) and that fan is by far the best fan I've purchased. It's a Costco product, so there's no shilling... $45 in store and $50 online (sells for about $70 - $80 most everywhere else). It also oscillates up and down as well as right in left... and on low, it's just about silent. Even on high, it makes about the same amount or less noise than my Vornado (the better one) on low. At $45, I'd consider 2 of those as opposed to one of these.

Depends on how much you expect to use it on the lower settings. I plugged in some numbers, and assuming 30 watts/hr saved at 2hr/day at 15c/kWh, that's 10 years to recoup the $30 difference. Of course, with the shorter warranty, the cheaper one might be broken by then

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the made in USA Vornado fans, and their imported models? I see that this model is imported while most other DC models are made in USA.

Asking because I have a Vornado 633 I bought at BBB years ago, and I'm not all that impressed. It's really loud. Wondering if the USA models are better, or I just got a lemon.

You have to buy it and try it.

I have a 630 that's excellent, I bought a 683 that was loud as hell. Got another 630 and put it on two milk crates.

I have a V8 or V10 on my desk at work that I got from Costco that's pretty good too.

Vornado 533DC is for around $70.. Isn't that better deal?
its a smaller fan with lower cfm (370) vs the 633DC which is a medium sized fan with a higher CFM (435)

hmmm. I too like the Vornado fans I currently own save for the lack of working with smart plugs. I just leave them on 24 / 7.

How long will it take me to re-coup the energy cost to buy new fans LOL.

Not asking this in an antagonistic way. Why do people buy an $85 fan? Doesn't it just blow air at you like any other fan?

Correct me if I'm wrong but vornados DC fans don't retain memory if the power is lost? Which doesn't make it ideal if you want to use a smart plug on it for Google/Alexa or other automating

edit: this specific model should since it has a mechanical dial
I can confirm firm that the Vornados with a dial retain memory for smart plug usage.

Nope. This is an "air circulator" which you're not really supposed to point directly at yourself (although nothing stopping you if you want). You're supposed to angle the air circulator so that it swirls the air and moves it around the entire room, and not just one singular cone of air movement that a typical fan would yield.

When it is kinda hot (humid high 70s up to low to mid 80s), I can get by with just these vornados. When it's very hot, I use the Vornado to move around the cool air from my window AC unit.

Even an oscillating fan doesn't move the air around as good as these.

Can you please explain. Thanks.
I'm not sure how to explain. The letter rating indicates what percentage of the reviews fakespot has decided are fake. The higher the percentage, the lower the grade rating. Once they remove the "fake" ratings, they update to show the "real" rating in stars. Usually a "B" rating will knock down the "real" rating by a half a star or so but in this case it knocked it down by 1.5. I don't know if it's significant in any way but I just thought it was odd.

A lot of people don't understand that this isn't a traditional fan that you use to blow directly into your face. Yes, you can do so but the idea of this Vornado is to shift the air into spots in your room that aren't getting any of the fan blowage that is blowing in that one singular direction. It's like an ac+fan together.

The reviews are so fake. So many repeat same thing "it's not too loud if you dont turn it all the way up."

Do you need 2 of those to circulate air or one is enough?

What makes this fan special is the infinite Variable Speed Control which means you can set the fan speed at any level just like a volume control on a radio rather than just having 2 or 3 speed settings. Variable speed on fans is not that common.

633DC
Low Speed: 400 rpm
High Speed: 1800 rpm

I do agree about the price. it can be a little less expensive.

Just one. Place it at one end of room to "bounce" off opposite wall. I place mine diagonally to aim in center of wall, circulates the whole room.
