It's funny, it hasn't even been a particularly hot summer, yet fans have been flying... ehrr, blowing off store shelves like toilet paper from 2 months ago. I have a couple Vornados, and they're generally good fans with a great warranty. Given this price range, though, I wanted to add that I just bought one of those Woozoo remote control globe fans from Costco (based partially on a recommendation from another SD'er) and that fan is by far the best fan I've purchased. It's a Costco product, so there's no shilling... $45 in store and $50 online (sells for about $70 - $80 most everywhere else). It also oscillates up and down as well as right in left... and on low, it's just about silent. Even on high, it makes about the same amount or less noise than my Vornado (the better one) on low. At $45, I'd consider 2 of those as opposed to one of these.

Depends on how much you expect to use it on the lower settings. I plugged in some numbers, and assuming 30 watts/hr saved at 2hr/day at 15c/kWh, that's 10 years to recoup the $30 difference. Of course, with the shorter warranty, the cheaper one might be broken by then

also 10 year vs 5 year warranty. Do you guys think it's worth the extra $30 over the normal 630?
Warranty + power savings probably about justifies it in the long run... but having variable speed control is priceless on a fan to me. Fan noise is annoying to me and I'm never quite happy with the big jump between medium and high. Variable control allows just the right setting to be found wherever it's used. Also a big plus that it's a knob and not some touch button set that always seems to fail.

If any of my existing Vornados fail I'd be replacing them with the versions variable controls, for sure.

Others have explained how these move air better, and I've found that to be absolutely true. There may be knock offs that perform similarly, but these are so much nicer in use than regular fans, once you get how they work and set them up correctly.

The 660 is AC meaning more energy use and only 4 speed settings. This one can be dialed to any speed and is DC. The 660 might be larger too.

No idea why are people so excited about it. It looks like my $15 Honeywell one.
It may look like the Honeywell, but I can tell you it doesn't work as good as a Vornado. Had those cheap Honeywell's before. None lasted as long and they didn't blow air nearly as well as my Vornados. I currently have the 630 and the smaller 530, and even though they are a little pricey, they have served me well. They are not quite at the high speeds, but for me that is perfect as I use it to muffle any outside noises from the bedrooms. In a bigger room, like a family room, it is a little less noticeable. Also, the 530 is small enough for me to pack in a suitcase to take on trips (would depend on how you pack, but I make it work. 😁)
Like all fans, these will need cleaning from time to time as the hair and dust will affect the start up. So, until you have tried an "air circulating" fan you don't really know what you are missing out on.

6303 has a remote, a little stronger but i think changing the speed is slower than just changing the dial.
Damn that 6303dc is definitely nicer with the remote but not @ $140

Does anyone know how this compares to the Vornado Silver Swan S? I completely forgot I have two of those (new in box) sitting in the garage from when Target clearanced them out many moons ago (paid $32 for 2).

Your Honeywell one is trash for air circulation compared to this. I bought the tiny 8" Vornado for $25 the other day to help out my home office that has a very weak AC flow. With this thing in the corner of the room and pointing to the middle of my 9' ceiling...it moves my ceiling fan blades. And not just a wiggle either, they spin at about a revolution a second. All from an 8" fan sitting across the room.

Do you need 2 of those to circulate air or one is enough?
My house has 5 rooms downstairs, including the kitchen. So I have a window AC in the living room on one side of the house, and use a large vornado to circulate the air towards the other side. But it's not an open layout house, so I can't realistically cool rooms in all directions with one air circulator. I do have an extra vornado that I have in the kitchen (other side of house) to circulate air.

Without the Vornados, I would need to put in another window AC unit somewhere to get the other side of the house cool.

Nice but the point of these air circulators, (especially this one) is that you save energy.
