They're just called fans.

It's funny, it hasn't even been a particularly hot summer, yet fans have been flying... ehrr, blowing off store shelves like toilet paper from 2 months ago. I have a couple Vornados, and they're generally good fans with a great warranty. Given this price range, though, I wanted to add that I just bought one of those Woozoo remote control globe fans from Costco (based partially on a recommendation from another SD'er) and that fan is by far the best fan I've purchased. It's a Costco product, so there's no shilling... $45 in store and $50 online (sells for about $70 - $80 most everywhere else). It also oscillates up and down as well as right in left... and on low, it's just about silent. Even on high, it makes about the same amount or less noise than my Vornado (the better one) on low. At $45, I'd consider 2 of those as opposed to one of these.

Depends on how much you expect to use it on the lower settings. I plugged in some numbers, and assuming 30 watts/hr saved at 2hr/day at 15c/kWh, that's 10 years to recoup the $30 difference. Of course, with the shorter warranty, the cheaper one might be broken by then

I can confirm firm that the Vornados with a dial retain memory for smart plug usage.
Damn, so tempting. Got one of those $30 vornados from Costco. I love it, but the only thing I wish it had was a physical knob!!

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the made in USA Vornado fans, and their imported models? I see that this model is imported while most other DC models are made in USA.

Asking because I have a Vornado 633 I bought at BBB years ago, and I'm not all that impressed. It's really loud. Wondering if the USA models are better, or I just got a lemon.
Same factories, same robots, same materials, same everything. Much cheaper labor! I got 3 of the same exact model. One of them is loud and the other 2 are fine. It is quality control issue. If those two were made in USA and the louder one in China, Placebo effect would tell me otherwise! Especially if I was watching the president's China standup comedy show!

cool does saving energy remove the humidity from the room?

no
You've completely missed the point. Nobody is suggesting no AC, but you may need fewer when combined with a solid air circulator.

Do you like saving money?

No (seems to be the apparent answer)

Thanks. But I think this 633DC is stronger right?

I'm literally confused with all different models of Vornado. Anyone care to explain in high level the difference between 630, 633, 633DC and 660?
I need one to circulate air in a big room with high ceiling. So higher power will be more ideal for me.

Thank you very much in advance.

also 10 year vs 5 year warranty. Do you guys think it's worth the extra $30 over the normal 630?
Vornado's warranty is the best I've ever seen for any product

You email them if there is a problem, they have you cut your cord and send a picture with the severed cord next to the serial # on the back of the fan, and within 3-5 days they send you a brand new fan (in the same or comparable model) for FREE

Extra $30 buying you 5 more years of that type of warranty Id say it's well worth it

That being said if you have a Costco membership their Vornado model is pretty powerful (probably as powerful as this model) and runs from $30-40

Of course, just bought a Vornado 610DC (not included in this sale, and similar to the 633DC) for full price 2 weeks ago…

Really happy with my 610DC over my Vornado 660.
I did the same thing. Oh well, it is a really nice fan.

Never heard of that fan but just looked it up and it has good reviews. I'll take a look in the fan aisle next time I go to Costco!

We have split AC units in each bedroom and one big split AC for the living room and kitchen. While I'd love to be in AC 24/7 fresh air is still nice and we've always had Vornados to use when it's not hot enough for AC or to keep the AC temp higher to save on electricity. You have to be able to appreciate the way these work but most importantly know how to use them. It's different to feel a breeze all over a room with just one fan pulling in air by the screen door, not a rush of air from one fan pointed at your face.

One other thing that makes me stick to Vornado is their warranty. They actually back their products. I had two of their flat panel fans die slow deaths and both were replaced with minimal effort. Now I have 3 of their air purifiers and of course our fans. After the 5 year warranty ends I've certainly got my money's worth.

I'm in the same position... I have a single wall AC unit in my entry way that shoots cold air into my bedroom, but I spend most of my time in my living room which is off to the side. I've been using a box fan to try and move cold air into my living room, but it doesn't work too well when the temperature goes above 90*F.

My Vornado humidifier's water tank started leaking, and I called them on a whim not expecting anything. They had a new one at my doorstep in 2 days without even asking for proof of purchase/warranty or anything. Definitely considering this 633DC...

Trying to find a fan that moves so slow that it feels like a mild breeze. 3-speed fans are never slow enough. Can this run significantly slower than a 3-speed fan?

I checked the woozoo's costco reviews, apparently it was on sale for $25 a few months ago?? Makes paying $50 a harder pill to swallow imo.
