Do people not care about the Samsung panel lottery anymore or something? I guess at these prices people only care about the size, and not the quality.

Samsung doesn't make 58" TV panels, so by buying this you're automatically accepting that you're likely getting a Chinese panel which will have noticeably worse picture.

Or am I just being outdated, and Samsung doesn't make any of their panels anymore except for the really upper lines?

Samsung won't even be making LCD panels after this year: https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/3...-factories

No problem on Panel
Samsung's problem is circuit board problem, tv will not be turned on.
You can search on google,
for mine, as well

Thanks good to know, but as I suspected, they will still being making the QLED TV panels. Similar to what Sony did a few years ago. They sold their lower line business to some Chinese company.

I remember seeing someone on FB posting a really cheap deal for a Sony TV, but obviously he's not an electronics nerd or a SDer, so he didn't realize that Sony only produced their top line TVs. I'm surprised that Sony would let someone use their name like that, but I guess at those price points people don't really notice anyways. I would probably agree with that.

If the TV's all say "4k, uhd, hdr" then the only selling point besides size will be the price. Average consumer will do no further research besides what is on the box. I mean how many people know that the black Friday TV's are substandard to the normal priced ones?

So, is this worth $348? Any actual reviews from the SD crowd?

yeah, I learned that BF lesson last time I bought a TV, wont be doing it again.

Then in a general sense how does one find a good deal on a good TV? Must someone spend top tier money to ensure theyre getting a quality product? I assumed the prices dropped so much due to advancements in tech and prices going down - it seems there may be a lot of corner cutting though...

Anyone got theirs shipped? I got email saying it is delayed and may be cancelled later. Need a cheap one for wife to watch mediocre quality tv episodes online. Also bought the 55" refurbished one right before this deal came up. Now debating whether to wait or cancel this and keep the 55".

Well, I lost the LG lottery 3 times in a row, so yeah, I'll stick with Samsung

The fact that you are asking that question means you are more informed than 90% of TV buyers.

Most people that go in to a store to buy a TV just know HDR, HD, UltraHD, Sony, Samsung. The sales person knows this as well and the vast majority of people just want to get in and get out, and as long as the TV gives them a picture they are satisfied.

I would shy away from weird panel sizes from ANY manufacturer. While they may be fine TVs, glass usually isn't cut at these weird sizes. Which to me says "leftovers".

Edit: Back on to the actual deal. I will check it out for my parents who just had a 8 year old Vizio die on them.

About 10 years ago I had the same issue. Bought Capacitors at local store and fixed them. TV went on forever.

Why they use cheap capacitors to ruin their name makes no sense to me.

I bought this last week. Arrived in a few days and have it up on the wall in a spare bedroom. Looks great to me, obviously not the qled I have in the family room but picture quality seems great for the price and size
