Amazon [amazon.com] has Metabo HPT Angle Grinder, 4-1/2", Includes 5 Grinding Wheels & Hard Case, 6.2-Amp Motor, Compact & Lightweight, 5 Year Warranty, G12SR4 for $29.97 - This is $0.97 more than the cheapest price even in February 2020.

For comparison Lowe's [lowes.com] sells the same kit for $49.98. Last time in February they matched Amazon's price.

Folks, please be aware that these things can be really dangerous. Leave the guard on, and a projectile-grade face mask would be a good idea. It's possible for discs to shatter, sending shrapnel into your head or chest. Not saying that they aren't really useful, but do be careful...
So, you bought it for $30 then?
Yes.

I have both harbor freight angle grinders and Hitachi ones.
I have multiple because it's easy to cruise through operations without switching wheels (run the grinder, then the flap wheel or knot wheel as you go,etc)

I just picked this up so I had another one.

I just burned out my last harbor freight one. It gets hot inside and can't handle the load. Blew it up in a single job. They are light duty cycle and stone work is hard work.

Keep in mind, this one has a toggle switch on the side and NOT a paddle switch.

Typically, a paddle switch is MUCH safer because if it gets loose it shuts off. better for most work. Bigskytool has them on sale often, cheap.

HOWEVER
the metabo paddle switche safeties are aggressive and SUCK to operate. They require constant pressure and I have been having thumb pain for 2 weeks I think I can attribute to the paddle from working on my project. I want this switch for knot wheel and bulk work because I can focus my grip and pressure on the handles.

I have a Dewalt paddle and the safety on that flips and stays flipped just fine but you pay more for yellow.

In for 1.... seems to be good deal.

Update... in comments someone says it only comes with 1yr warranty as in the instruction manual.

Its basically a Hitachi that was rebranded when they were bought out i guess.

Thumbs up.... In for one as a gift... bought one last time and for occasional use, the slim body fits in your hand well and easier for one handed work. If you are thinking of commercial usage, this is probably not the one.... but it is cheap with a case and some grinding blades.

I'm not a big extended warranty guy, but you can add the 4 year protection plan for only $4.

will be doing my first tile flooring job in the next month or so. is this a good buy for the easy way of cutting the cement board underlayment, and possibility the tiles themselves. not planing on extreme cuts, just a square room with one floor vent and some corner cuts to go halfway into the doorway.

The amazon link looks like it's only for the tool, not the case and 5 wheels.

Yes...but you'll need a good floor scraper too.

I was about to buy one at harbor freight for $10 - $15. I just need it for a small paver project to cut about 20 of them. After that it will probably sit in my garage for years unused. Is this worth the extra money?
