Doesn't this 4-side jar defeat the purpose of owning a Blendtec? You can get a decent motor and blade in other blenders, but you buy the Blendtec for their Wildside jar. That mixes everything better than any other blender and prevents the need for a spatula.

somewhat, but i bought my blendtec because it was on sale and considerably cheaper than a vitamix. i also consider blendtec and vitamix on roughly the same level, and other blenders like food ninja further down the list. my blendtec came with the fourside jar, twister jar, and total blender base for $190. with the exception of trying to make frozen treats, i don't have to use a spatula either.

$209 is an ok deal if you desperately need one now, but note that this deal comes with the basic base that doesn't allow as many functions which would be a huge deal breaker for me. the 2 year warranty on this specific model is also pretty bad.

I have both the 4 side and Wildside jar with my Blendtec blender. I actually prefer the 4 side in 90% of the recipes I make. It's a lot better with smaller recipes as well. Unless the neighbors are over for margarita night, I use the 4 side.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that too. Big change in warranty years.

Gotcha. I'd say 90% of my blending involves ice or frozen ingredients, so that's what I'm keeping my eye out for

Searching SD, $190 was that the treasure truck deal like 2 years back?
The best I've seen more recently is $230 with a 4side & twister jar?
I agree $210 w/ 1 jar is a "I need it soon" price, but any 2 jar combo <$250 is probably as good as you'll see again.

Was also shocked that a blender this expensive only has 2 years. Usually they're at least 4.

I lucked out and found one of these on a ridiculous clearance at Walmart for like $70 a year and a half or so ago. I can't compare it to other expensive blenders but it blows away anything else I've ever owned. Maybe people that more heavily use it would find the lack of features to be a drawback, but it hasn't been an issue for me.

It's probably because their jar (i have FourSide) lasts about 2 years, at which time the rubber seals at the bottom is deteriorated.
