Not the lowest price but a similar deal last month got decently positive attention. $145 list price before discounts. 10% Email discount possible via signing up for mailing list. 15% discount via Education verification, recycling old HDD, or 55+ yo.
Not sure why the thumbs down. Seems like a decent deal, especially if you can get the added bonus percentages. There was a Seagate 8TB not long ago that was a bit cheaper..
Costco has 8TB Seagate for $120. Executive members get 2% back + Credit card 1.5 - 3% depending upon your bank. Killer return policy...
There is a class action lawsuit against WD for sneaking SMR drives into their red drives (NAS) and not telling anyone - I got stuck with three of these - I wont be buying WD anytime soon

I also vote with my dollars when makers transgress.
Anyone still open to VW/Audi/Porsche?

Aren't the Seagates SMR? And everything over 8tb for WD is not SMR?

Because it should be YMMV. Not everyone has the 15% discount.
The price is still available today however. $15/GB is good for today's covids.
