According to the camel's of the 3, it's been about $1,300 on Amazon
Lamp life is largely dependent on how much you love it.
I was going to post this. Great deal!

I bought it for $1299 (sale price in February) for the super bowl.

I did research for 2-3 months and this was the best deal for 4K resolution and lumens. You could do A LOT worse in the $999 range.

Blackout curtains will definitely will optimize the experience though it's not totally necessary.

How does this projector compare to the Epson 2150?

Quote from DavidH1706 :
That was just my experience last year. My new fancy 4K projector and 4K receiver would not do 4k60 using any cord over 12 feet (tried 6 expensive brands of hdmi cords). The 22gbps channel for 4K is not forgiving so u put the video source as close as you can to the projector, then arc out the sound. For anyone with a projector trying to get 4k60 (4K at 60 frames per second), you may have a similar experience with long cords. Again 4k30 worked just fine at long distances
I have to agree. I used this for my projector that needed a long run (over 30 feet): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

I believe that it's not a hard and fast rule, but anything over 25-30 ft, you will need either an active or optical fiber HDMI cable.

Also, even on "short" runs, I think it's worth it to buy certified HDMI cables (at the time I purchased them, only Monoprice had certified HDMI cables, but they were affordable). This gave me a peace of mind that they met a minimum standard that meant it was guaranteed to work with my equipment and eliminate HDMI cables as a variable if something wasn't working.

I pulled the trigger, and this arrived on Tuesday.

Good: The picture really is remarkable. The image is so bright, it honestly feels like a massive TV in front of you, not a projected image on a screen. Detail is super impressive, especially compared to my trusty workhorse Epson 8350. HDR looks good with the exception of the Simpsons, where everyone looked brown. I could change the settings to make them look normal, but it was bizarre that the standard HDR setting didn't display correctly at all. Definitely very quiet. I temporarily set it up right next to my head, and realized I hadn't noticed the fan at all after 30 minutes of viewing. It's also a nice looking projector and relatively light. The colors are really good on this. I'm picky about color, and I would rate this 8.5/10 because I couldn't quest find a perfect balance of saturation vs natural. Still very pretty and enjoyable. You just have to pick which one you want more.

Bad: Having no lens shift at all is REALLY annoying, especially if you're used to lots of lens shift flexibility. You MUST nail the placement, have a super flexible mount, or concede to stupid keystone. ALL THE RAINBOWS. Another SDer warned me I would see rainbows, but I had to try it for myself. The last home DLP I viewed was many years ago, so I was hoping the new wheel technology eliminated the rainbows. Holy cow, no. Unless you keep your eyes perfectly still, every it's like an acid trip (from what I've heard.) Really a huge bummer. I probably would have kept this if the rainbows were minimal. I guess it's 3LCD for me for at least the next ten years.

I have been looking at this deal multiple times, sorely tempted but I cannot bring myself to jump on it. I am leaning towards waiting on a deal on TK-850 for two reasons:
- No dynamic iris
- No lens shift
(and who makes a projector in 2020 with only one hdmi 2.0? and a VGA port??)

What would the recommendations be to get this? Help me understand if I am over thinking the things I am stuck on...

I had the same rainbow problem with DLP. After much procrastination, bit the bullet and changed my Panasonic 8000U to EPSON 6040UB recently.

Even though the epson is few years old by now, the picture quality is much better than the highly regarded Panasonic (at least, in my eyes after calibration).

Guess some of us are relegated to only 3 LCD...

Mine is shipped, waiting for it to arrive. I also looked at HT3550 but it has only 2000 lumens and hence, may not be suitable for rooms with ambient light. That said, I think TK850 is a good balance between these 2 PJs IMHO.

SCORE MIGHTY via Amazon is back on sale. I gave them a ring a moment ago to ask about their sale and they said that the sale is until tomorrow with limited quantities.

Last chance before pricing goes back up to $1299.
