It does have AVR, if anyone is wondering. Not sure why Staples doesn't advertise that. Here's the link to the unit on APC's page: https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/pr.../P-BX1000M

Is AVR not common? I assumed that all my battery backups had AVR.

Basic surge protection from overvoltage is found in almost all. Automatic Voltage Regulation which also protects from undervoltage and works continuously is much less common.

Not pure sine. Right? Did not notice mentioned anywhere. Want it for my projector. Will this be reliable?

AHHHH, Thank you for letting me know. There are simply way to many features on these things to keep up.

The specifications on APC's site say that it's stepped sinewave.

Some review mentioned that this models replacement battery #158 is discontinued. Can anyone verify?

Thanks! That's not cheap... Close to the cost of the unit's deal price.

That's the APC one, and I imagine that generic/non-APC branded ones are much cheaper. I've replaced some batteries before and didn't get the APC ones for that reason. I think corporate IT departments and other places that spend OPM (Other People's Money) are the ones who buy those APC batts!

Never go APC for replacements for a home UPS. http://www.refurbups.com/APC-BX1000M-Compatible
