Last time around thanksgiving when I tried to use Amex at one of their listed small businesses, they declined saying for Amex minimum purchase of $25.

What a great deal - spend and get money back.
Amex certainly has been doing a lot lately due to the pandemic with their $20/month credit on streaming plus $20/ month wireless phone service.
Makes the $550 annual fee a great deal!
