and I am not sure if that includes GC's or how Amex will decide to interpret.
GC for a small business may slide but Amazon gc is a bit dicey.
that's more like MS'ing.. we talking in the thousands spend at the grocery stores trying to get the bonus points .. not over a $10 gift card.

My total was $9.84 for a sandwich and I added $0.16 tip to reach the $10 limit, I received the credit within two days of the payment positing to my account.
What we're seeing more and more though, is that Amex is willing to use its broad authority to claw back points or close the accounts of people who try to game promotions or do things that are explicitly forbidden by the terms and conditions. Amex has made it clear that it doesn't intend to sit back and allow people to game the system.
