Govee is new rebranding of Minger products.

Previously banned on SD, was given a reprieve in the last week or so and has been posted nonstop by staffers ever since.
Take this deal and popularity with some skepticism.

might be better now, but YMMV on quality.

Did the Minger products break easily? I bought the Govee 16ft of this product last week, just looking out for a potential failure

Staff should weigh in on what shady marketing practices got them banned in the first place, I don't have full story.

I don't own any Minger products but anecdotally from other SDers it seemed like suspect quality.

Rebranding a product/name that was banned for being poor quality probably means there's a very high chance it will be absolute garbage too.

I just bought the Govee branded 16.4ft outdoor and 32.8 ft indoor dreamcolor versions a week ago and quality seemed pretty great. It's only been a week so I cant speak on life but brightness and function were nice. There was an app update to add more features as well. Only issue I noticed is sometimes when choosing a yellow/green color on the color wheel through the app its not always true to the color. A lime green selection on the app may show up more as a yellow on the lights just little stuff like that.

My goove 16 foot led strip stopped working because I was brooming under the bed and I accidentally pushed the strand a little too hard. No visual break or damage it just stopped working. Quality is not there yet.

I got mine the 2nd day after ordering. Quality seems consistent with every other far east manufactured product.

Its a surface mount electronics device. So, this isn't uncharted territory. They aren't really intended to be peel n stick mounted. Any professional installer of this type of lighting recommends placing the strips inside aluminum channel.

I'm not trying to flame your comment "the quality isn't there yet" but what do you guys really expect ? It's a $20 strip of surface mount LEDs and resistors. I mean, you're not buying a heavy duty pickup truck or a dishwasher here.

Got the wifi version deal earlier, working fine for now. Can't quite get orange color but for 30 bucks I can live with that. Waiting for another wifi version deal to get a couple more for my kids rooms.

We have had these on our fireplace wall for 3 months and have had zero issues, great colors matches great with Wiz phillips lights, not 1st gen hue lights. The code isn't working for me today, might be expired?
