I glanced at the G6 specs.. and see pros and cons to both.

G6 pro:

GSM and CDMA
32 GB storage (vs 16GB)
3 GB ram (vs 2 GB)
bigger screen
gorilla glass
probably a better build quality

G6 cons:

recent slickdeals (that I find) are $35 for refurbished.. whereas this is $15 for new
battery is non-removeable (I hate that)
Kinda personal, don't ya think?
Thanks OP 👍 The code appears take $15 off every phone I've tried so far (probably 7 to 8 by now).

Reviews for this aren't very good admittedly, but it was free when you add the $15 prepaid airtime and code:

The reconditioned LG Rebel 4 + $20 airtime is $14.99 also, for example:

How does this phone compare with the Moto G6? I got a G6 recently, and is looking for another spare / light usage phone. Is this good, or should I wait for another deal with the G6?

G6 will update to Android 9 and also has 1080p screen. Rebel 4 is out of date with minimal specs, my neighbors replaced theirs almost a year ago. Waste of money, find something better.

I got this Rebel 4 phone/service for a down and out person and when setting it up, I was surprised was a very decent phone it is. THe line of functionality between this phone and a $100.+ phone is close. If one's breaks/loses this one, no tears at this price.

I picked up two in Feb 2019 when Best Buy had the Simple Mobile version (also on Verizon, same L212VL model number) for $13. I'm using them on WiFi: always-on security cam monitor, streaming TV (CNN, NHK, etc), secondary e-mail monitor, beermoney and working around one-per-device/account limits (McDonalds app for one), things that you don't want to tie up your main or expensive phones/tablets.

Specs closely mirror the Moto E4/E5 ($40-$100) and it is quite decent as a WiFi device: 720p IPS screen (480p was, and still is the norm at this price) though not too bright, Snapdragon 425 (not the noticeably slower SD210), generous 2GB RAM, usable 8MP/5MP cameras. Performs better than many budget tablets of the time such as the Kindle Fire HD 8 (2016/2017/.2018) which has only 1.5GB RAM and 2MP garbage cameras.

Doesnt work when checking out. Asks for a safety code, but no text is ever sent to the mobile number you provide...

This phone is great, I use it as a work phone, a major draw back is the power button likes to stop working if you are around lots dust or dirt. This isn't an issue if aren't around that of course just pointing it out.

I was going to say that your idea to get the refurbished TCL A1 (A501DL) for free was very slick.. but unfortunately I'm also stuck at the confirmation code text message. I've tried 4 different phone numbers (all valid).. but no code is ever sent; it only gives some false message about there being an error while trying to send. Shame..
