Have owned this exact unit for 9 months. Great TV for gaming. Freesync enabled only for AMD cards, will not do freesync on Nvidia cards.
Also, this is one of the only TV's in this price range that will do real 120hz (verified in Nvidia control panel or AMD Adrenalin settings), true 120hz limited to 1440p and below. 4k is 60hz.
I bought the 55RU8000 in November and have been very happy with it.
The UI is pretty slick. The free Samsung Plus TV channels are a nice addition. We have the WeatherSpy channel on in the background often which is drone videos of nature.
We have no cable but all of the apps work very well and haven't had an issue watching over WiFi yet.
I spent a lot of time looking at ratings vs price leading into Black Friday and ended up settling on this one. I was hoping to nab a QLED but they never got near $500. And the 2019 TLC wasn't widely available and had mixed reviews.
I've not been disappointed with this purchase, and don't think anyone looking for a well priced tv would be either.

And wasn't the previous nu8000 better than this ru8000? It seems Samsung is lowering the performance of this line with every new iteration.
Yes. They're deemphasizing LED in favor of QLED, hence the stripping out features and lowering of performance in the LED line. I'm glad I got the 65" NU8000.
I have a 65" NU8000 and as per RTINGS, the Samsung NU8000 is much better than the Samsung TU8000.
What in the world is Samsung doing with newer models?

Hmm seeing the comments about previous model being better, the one that I have and this is like a 3 or 4yr old model I think. Based on rtings this is better than the next one.
Guess I need to go oled/qled if I want to buy one
