I'd wait, 5500 xt isn't anywhere near the power hog this is.

I've been searching for the past five weeks. Went from RX 570, to RX 580, to 5500 XT, to GTX 1660, to GTX 1660 super, to RTX 2060, and finally settled on a 5600 XT a couple days ago. Used over twice my original budget. Point is don't look too long and become undisciplined like me haha.

Hmm, the dilemma for me is buy this now or wait for the 5500XT to drop a bit? I don't have an urgent need, but my one system is running an ancient R7 200 2GB card which can't play any demanding games.

I thought the 5500 would have a lower power draw, but that's not the case. Performance is better, mostly, but the cost is 50% higher.

I should look at used cards. Smilie

Just to help save you some effort, you'll have a hard time finding a used RX 570 8GB under ~$100, and that's if you're lucky and vigilant. That's pretty much the case for anything RX 470/480/570/580. The low end of the used market hovers around $90-$130, with a bit higher of a bracket for GTX 1060, and even higher for GTX 16XX and 5X00 XT.

I was just looking locally, and the prices match what you wrote, with the occasional oddball hoping to recoup nearly what he paid for the card when new. I may look at the 5500XT/4GB because for my needs with this computer, the extra 4GB isn't necessary even when considering "future proofing". Decisions...

Good price, but many people suspect the price of any given performance tier will drop substantially this fall. Upcoming cards from both Nvidia and AMD are rumored (and to some extent validated) to be a considerable bump in performance compared to the last few generations.

Curious as to what you paid for your 5600 XT?

I've been looking around and found a 5600 XT store demo card being sold for $240. I have been kind of watching prices but not 100% sure if it's a great deal.

I have the 580 8Gt version of this card with the same cooler, it runs very cool but can be a bit loud under load, keep in mind I have 5 fans in my case so your results may be different. Idles at 27 and runs at 74 under load

Are you sure 4GB is enough? I run a gtx970 4GB and even with older games with newer HD textures the ram fills up quite a bit... Put in Hi-Res textures and its a no go at 1440p

I'd be gaming at 1080, not anything higher, because it's hooked up to an older Sharp TV. This computer is basically my secondary one, with my primary running a Sapphire RX 590.

Got the Sapphire Pulse version on ebay a few days ago for 259. Someone was unloading seven new ones.

the cheapeast 5500xt I've seen was around $160 and performs worse than a 580... For $40 more I would consider a 580 or a 1650 super
