Doorbuster deal, starts 07/08 @ 11AM ET. Great specs for the price. I don't know what Dell understands as a WVA Display. Chances are, it may be an IPS screen.

Hmmm...picked up this one for $550 after I get the AMX 120 back. Any thoughts on this deal vs the one I got? https://slickdeals.net/f/14168504-dell-insipiron-15-5000-10th-generation-intel-core-i7-1065g7-processor-512-ssd-8gb-ram-intel-iris-graphics-15-6-backlit-keyboard-fingerprint-reader-690
You are getting much better IRIS Plus GPU with i7 vs UHD on i5.

You may be getting an inferior screen with the i7 there. I don't know if it's worth it.

Does this have a USB type-C port or not?
Features say "1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C with Data Transition Only (with discrete version only)"
But i don't see it on the ports&features section of the body description.
Ok I think I answered my own question, there is NO Type-C port on the doorbuster version as the tech specs say it only comes on laptops with a dedicated graphics card
(discrete version).
This may limit expand-ability in future
Also note "The maximum resolution supported by this HDMI port is 1920x1080."

Not that you will be gaming on here, but bare in mind you'll never get 4K from this even externally

10/100 ethernet was standardized in 1995. Gigabit ethernet was standardized in 1999.

Every mid-high end mobo is coming out with 2.5gbE as standard. A typical 7200RPM HDD can perform sequential writes near gigabit speed.

Please do tell how gigabit is not dated. LMFAO.
Standardized in 1999 doesn't make it outdated...I feel lie you don't even know what Gigabit port even does so nvm

Logic is hard, huh? I hope you can see how your assessment of my comment about HDDs also makes the argument that gigabit is dated.
I wish I could draw you a picture to explain logic. Somehow I feel you still won't get it.

Does this come with the fingerprint reader on the power button?
Seeing it as a optional feature per dell's website.

This seems like a good deal.

Acceptable-to-most build, performance, and display for under 450 makes this the 2nd deal of its kind next to the costco hp that sold out very quickly. That was cheaper but this is faster. This might be the one for me -- still weighing between this and the zenbook deal, which yields slightly better build (unconfirmed but likely) display (same) and performance (for sure) for 120 more.

It might come down to form factor for me, have to decide between 15 average or 14 slim

If the brightness really is 230 nits, its atrocious.

I've got the Latitude 5501 which has basically the same screen and it's awful. My coworker and I use the same computer. We both have issues with sleep also. It'll be fully charged at night, 40% in the morning. No amount of tweeting the settings seems to help. It's a flaming POS that has massive keyboard flex, a small trackpad and a screen that u think is broken it's so dim.

Cool story, but the Latitude 5501 has nothing to do with the Inspiron 5593 here. Your Latitude has a 9th gen H-series CPU. This one has a 10th gen. U-series. The ports are positioned completely differently and the physical dimensions are not comparable either. I don't know what you based your conclusion on.

I mean, you could be right about the Latitude, but what does it have to do with this Inspiron? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

After reading through the comments and not seeing it come up previously, I have two questions regarding this computer/deal:

1) I know this has a SSD, but can I also add a 2nd 2.5 inch HDD for things like photos, movies, and music?

2) Do you have to get lucky to get in on these doorbusters from Dell before they sell out. I'm planning to buy right when it goes live on Thursday, but nervous it might be tough.

Thanks!

He was talking about the screen dimness and you went mental on him.
