B&H Photo Video has the 16TB Expansion Desktop drive on sale for $308.99, shipping is free. It's currently on backorder; my last drive which was on backorder (same SKU) shipped out within a week after placing the order.

If you're interested in shucking the drive, you will find a Exos X16 Enterprise drive inside.

No doubt, there will be some Seagate detractors out there, but I haven't experienced any drive failures with any of my recent Seagate Ironwolf drives. Same can't be said for the HGST (now WD) 10TB Nas drives I purchased over the last 4 years. YMMV

Update:
Also available on Amazon for the same price, in stock and ready to ship. QA Update: Temp OOS but orderable

Looks like these (the 16TB's) might be CMR, but the next 18TB's will be SMR per AnandTech https://www.anandtech.com/show/14...b-smr-hdds

I've been buying the exos 16tb drives for about $375. Not sure how I feel about this deal. I've been pretty happy with Seagate but I also have been using enterprise level drives.

Are these SMR drives, like Seagate's archive series?

Anyone have any experience shucking these and do these require the tape method?

Not a good price. This is around $19.3/TB whereas the 14 TB WD Easystore was around $200 which is around $14.2/TB

Math doesn't work for the largest drives.

$200? Where. That sounds like a slick deal.

Why not? Is this a superior drive than the easystore?

It was an expired sale price by BestBuy. We've been waiting for it to come back.

The largest capacity drives always have a pricing premium. When you're dealing with enterprise purchases, stuff like physical space and heat become more important than price per GB
