Anyone have any opinions on the 43" Insignia 1080p that's $159? Is 4k really beneficial on a TV that small? And do bestbuy.com open box units come with any warranty?
On the fence with this one. I need a new TV to replace the one my youngest broke in the kids room. I'm trying to mate the 200x200 VESA mount and this one is a 300x200. I really don't want to buy a new mount but I do like the fact that this is a android TV over ROKU Smart TV. I use Kodi/Jellyfin and I also have HBO MAX so ROKU is odd player out at the moment. I'm not trying to be cheap but at this point I'm just not sure if its worth it at the price.

For the mount you could probably find an adapter to make it work. I have a mount that is 100x100 that held my computer monitor but wanted to put up a 200x200 TV. I checked to make sure the mount was rated for the weight of the TV first. Then I bought an adapter so I could mount the TV. If the mount is rated for something smaller you have to account for the size difference when it comes to adjustability, placement, etc though.
I was eye balling the 219 or 239 price point tv since those specs are better and more comparable to this than the 199. But they both come with an echo dot too...

My god. Why didn't I think about that? I realize I am being lazy not wanting to replace the mount and again It's not a cost thing just a logistics issue but I didn't even thing to consider this option. Thank you.
So is 4k really beneficial on a 43" TV? Or is 1080p all you need?
Obviously that depends on how close you're sitting, or whether any of your sources in the next *few* years are going to be higher than 1080p. Some people also use cheap 4K TVs as computer monitors and that's definitely a reason to get a 4K in this size, if your video card or GPU can handle it which for practical purposes means it has HDMI2 so you don't suffer through 30Hz refresh @ 4K.
I've had this for 3 mos. now and Android on it is a downgrade. It is slow, and needs power cycled (cord pulled from wall) and/or factory reset every few days unless you leave some Android TV settings on their defaults, making it mostly unusable for the TV functions.
If you just want to add some special purpose app not related to streaming / viewing shows, it can just do that, but Android TV is not just an alternate input device, it is the core OS and if it lags, everything the TV does can be effected.
I'll leave it on HDMI1 input for use, turn it off, then some days it won't turn on until unplugged from the wall. Other days it turns on but is locked up on an Android TV preview show screen, that it switched to while soft-off, having not used Android TV specific features at all since the last power cycle. It switches itself to Android TV mode and locks up if you don't use Android features at all, just from having changed some of the default settings.
If you can resist the urge to change any settings, and ignore that it has Android TV features at all, it can stay stable for HDMI input, but ultimately that makes Android TV more of a liability than a feature, and there is no newer firmware. I contacted Hisense support and was told that it just does this and may need factory reset every few days, lol.
