This is a long read but has pretty good info on how audioholics (one of the trustable and knowledgeable reviewers out there) certify each subwoofer they review https://www.audioholics.com/louds...-room-size if you want to skip all reading, the monolith 15 is extreme certified which means this should easily fill spaces greater than 5000 cu feet. Boy, ya'll must be a bunch of rich mo-fo's to consider this a Slickdeal. I would jump on this in a heartbeat, but it's $1,100 above my budget for a sub 😂.

For anyone interested in this level of subwoofer who are remotely handy with tools, DIY will yield the same quality sound for less or better quality sound for the same price. How good the sub looks will be dependent on your skill level. There is no one sub design that is best for all.

You just need to know your budget, what you want to achieve and how big of a sub (or subs) can you fit in your space. If you are especially handy, they don't even need to look like subs. I've seen people build it into a coffee table, ottoman and end table. You would not know there were subs in the room if you weren't told.

At least 50 points on retail. Higher end speakers are usual 60. This is why you will see discounts as high as 50% on occasion.

I find this is the case with any consumer electronics/technology. Don't most US homes use the TV speakers or maybe a modest sound bar? I am content with my 5.1.4 set up on a very strict budget. I am refusing old speakers for my ceilings, but otherwise I am at like $700-800, 2 sets of $100ish/pair speakers, $100 sub, and found a new LX303 for $399 on Amazon. I prefer my sound over the movie theaters - much clearer and I don't have to listen to it cranked up to 11.

Look up AVSforum for Devastator build. I did version 6. I used Eminence NSW 26 inch pro driver and a Crown xls 2502. I sourced baltic birch locally, NSW driver from GSG Audio Design and xls 2502 from crutchfield. Hope this helps. Agree again. There are many factors in determining a good setup for sub(s). Whether you buy one or multiple, placement is key. Buying a sub and simply throwing it in a corner or hiding behind things is not often going to produce good results.
So like I mentioned depends who you ask. For me there are inconsistencies here, for instance.

Saying adding a 2nd sub "will add 6dB of SPL headroom (will play louder)" and that it "will not improve the sound unless" then you agree with me and say " Agreed, many confuse louder as better"

Then a 2nd sub would yield better "sound quality" because it "will help with smoothing out the frequency response over a wider listening area." Then you say "Adding a second sub will not yield wider, smoother dispersion"

Anyways I think we're we differ is how we define "sound quality".
For me improving sound quality would be better accuracy,detail,articulation, going lower.
A 2nd sub doesn't add any of that, it just spreads(dispersion) that frequency over a wider listening area(smooths out).

The great thing is this is all subjective so there is no universal right or wrong here.

this is actually a huge issue with the sub. i have tried to use it in several projector based installations and it is so tall that it blocks the screen. performance wise it is a good product, but the height often makes it unusable if placed at the front of the room when using a screen. and no one wants to hear the suggestion of "get a smaller screen", they all want the biggest screen that the room can fit.

profit margin is generally a term for a company as a whole not for individual products, but i see your point in the "Margin" of manufacturing cost vs. selling price. it all depends on the company and if they build their own product or not. this sub is not built by monoprice, it is contract manufactured for them so the margin will generally be lower since there is an added layer of profit built in for the manufacturer.
